I am just about a week out for my trip "home". I LOVE LOVE LOVE POFQ, and this will be my third year in a row staying there. I am a bit surprised to read that there are Brazilian tour groups staying there as I have been told in the past that they don't put them in POFQ. I have had some truly TERRIBLE run ins with them, including my last stay at ASMO where they had to move us out of the hotel because of their awful behavior. They were running wild, banging on doors in the middle of the night, prank calling rooms, and sitting right in front of my door singing at 3am amongst other things.

The CMs were very nice and moved us in the wee hours of the morning. This is how I came to love POFQ. It is such a quiet and restful place. I am truly nervous now that I may be thrown back into that craziness:sad1::sad2::sad2:

I think they do normally try to keep them at the values, but when we stayed at CSR in 2008 there were about 2-3 groups there. We've had some difficult experiences with the tour groups too, but I must say that the ones at CSR were very well managed and the CSR managers worked with them to get them their own busses so it didn't inconvenience the rest of the guests.

I made a separate thread, but I'll ask here as well. Would FQ be a good place to stay with a mobility-impaired guest? And would it be better for that than a value resort, or is there really not much difference? My sister and I are going, and we've stayed at FQ before and had good experiences, so I'm leaning towards that a lot.

there are a couple of advantages to POFQ versus a values resort for a mobility-impaired guest.

1) The rooms are a little larger

2) The resort is so much smaller which I think is the more important reason. We stayed at a Value once in a preferred room. The distance to everything was so much further there.

We fit an ipad into the safe, along with an ipod touch. No way to fit a laptop though! They have a key.

I'm planning on packing light and washing clothes once or twice during our stay. Are the washers standard washers or high efficiency? I have a HE model at home, but my free samples of detergent are for standard washers. I didn't want to bring them if the machines are HE. Thanks!!

I cannot wait for our trip!!

Oh, I also wanted to ask.. we have an early morning breakfast at Cape May planned one morning. We're planning to take a taxi. Do we just go to the front desk and ask them to call a cab for us or what? We've never used a taxi on any of our trips.

Just got home from POFQ. The beds were SO comfortable! Wish I had them at home. :) Bldg 6 corner room facing the river was wonderful, but a bit far from the food court and pool for our taste, especially since I have difficulty walking (add 5 foot blisters and a boil in the crease of my leg), but the room was great. Only complaint was lack of pressure for showers. :confused3

Overall, great experience!

There are usually a few cabs on hand. But, did you know that you can take a bus even to an early reservation? I found this out last summer. I had a 7:30 breakfast reservation for Cape May and was planning on taking a cab. On a whim I asked the front desk what was the best way to get to my reservation. She told me to take the first bus (7AM) to DHS and tell the driver I had a reservation at Cape May. The DHS bus dropped me off at BC after making the stop at DHS. I have since learned that you can do this to get to all early b'fast reservations at the resorts--early bus to AK will drop you at AKL for a BOMA b'fast, etc. Heck, the MK bus will take you to the Contemporary for an early CM if you don't feel like walking!

Sorry about your luck with the blisters and boil. Hopefully they will heal up quickly! Hope you were able to do your balloon release of other tribute in a way that was meaningful to your family.

Do you remember your room #? This is exactly the type of room I am interested in. I like bldg 6 or 7 since I like to go over to the foodcourt at POR.

I was wondering if any of you have shipped something to the POFQ - how did you ship it? UPS? And was it waiting for you at the front desk/bell services when you arrived or did you have to call a phone number to get it delivered? Did the resort/ Disney charge you a fee to deliver it from their central processing unit to your room/resort like they do at the convention resorts such as Coronado?
Thanks so much!!

Room 6148. Wonderfully peaceful and quiet. Go around the building to the Rue d'Baga and follow it to the food court.

No, unfortunately we didn't get to do the balloon release, thanks for asking. When we went to the MK as a family, we forgot the sharpie we had brought for that purpose. But we thought of him constantly and at one point, dh broke down and said that he always wanted to go to Disney as a kid, but they could never afford it then. I told him that he was with us now, and watching over his "sissies" as they went their own way on this trip.

There is an entire sticky at the top of the first page regarding all the details of shipping to your resort.

Wish I could say the same about buses - I was left standing on a bus holding a sleeping two year old whilst they all ignored me!! GRRR! That was at CSR last year. There was a lot of noise one night but other than that no real problems at the resort but the bus thing annoyed me and it happened more than once! It's the lack of manners that bugs me, I'm all for kids having fun (I'm a high school teacher, I'm used to teenagers) but a bit of respect for others never did anyone any harm!

Rant over!

We shipped a small package to ourselves last October by USPS and they handed it to us at check-in, shipped another one in April to some friends who were there and since it arrived after they checked-in they said they received a message on their room phone and went to pick it up at the front desk.

Yes, after 1pm the following day.

Andre

When we were at WDW in 1999, they delivered gifts and souvenirs to your room (And it was usually the same day if your bought early enough). It was a really nice perk. It was always nice to come back to your room at the end of a long day and find all your goodies waiting there for you. Sad they don't still do that.

Thank you for all the pictures related to the coffee, Andre. It looks like the place that holds the provided sealed paper packettes of coffee is large enough to use open top filter paper without overflow of my coffee grinds. So dunkin donuts coffee, paper filters, water, and half and half should take care of the best part of waking up.

I am running out of details to micromanage.

I personally would reconsider using the coffee maker in your hotel room. I don't know if you have heard what people do to coffee makers in hotel rooms. I'll just leave it to your imagination. I know it is Disney and why would any one DARE to do something vile to a DISNEY coffee maker....Just sayin.....
