What time does the first bus leave toward the parks? I have a ADR for Chef Mickey at 815am and one at Crystal Palace another day at the same time. Also any suggestions for a room that is close to the buses or Main Building but quiet? Which building is picked up first.

This will be my first time with an early breakfast ADR, so I'm not sure when the first buses are scheduled, I'm guessing close to 7 a.m. We plan on taking a taxi that morning rather than rely on the bus.

The building which is closest to the bus stop is building 4. There's only one bus stop (well, actually there are two but they're next to each other) and all buildings are picked up at the same time. We've stayed in 3 (three times), 2, and 6 and they've all been extremely quiet. Really, the resort is so compact that you're never far from anything no matter which building you're in.

Based on past experience, busses generally run 1 hour before park opening and two hours after park closing. So I would check the park schedule for the day and go from there. Happy Planning

We are staying at POFQ tomorrow night & I can't wait. I have stayed at RS before, but not FQ. Checking in at 800am & then heading to the park. i'm sure our room won't be ready, but at least we can get our key, etc & when we are ready to head back to our room we can without having to wait to check in.

We were supposed to be staying at WL for the first time in December, but due to money issues we decided to go with POFQ.....Why do you love this resort?

I haven't been to it yet. I'm going next month. But, I seem to already be in love with it! Weird I know... :rotfl2: It seems very nicely landscaped and laid out. I am looking forward to the smaller resort size and being by the water.

1. Newly rehabbed rooms with queen size beds
2. How the shower curtain bows outward giving you more room
3. Boat to DTD
4. First bus stop, even though it shares buses with PORS, so you usually get a seat in the mornings
5. Bignets in the food court
6. Because they are sister resorts you can use the pools at both resorts
7. Love the walk over to PORS
8. How small the resort is (you are never very far from anything)
9. How the hot tub is separated from the main pool
10. Seems to be quieter than alot of the other resorts
11. Eliott Dyson's show in the lounge

I can't explain what it is but when the time came to choose for our trip, I couldnt stay anywhere else. I am a fan of POP and LOVED been spoiled at the Poly but POFQ just seems to be the best of both worlds. Theme and some unique spoilers (compact, boats, beautiful grounds, etc.) Just MHO.

I had the money for this trip to book deluxe... but instead we decided to book POFQ. We love the feel of the resort and how compact it is. It just feels like home for us.

It is a very peaceful resort. Not hectic or loud. Other than the Mardi Gras items in the dining area and the plastic characters on the way to the pool, there isn't a lot of in-your-face decor. Everything is very low key and restful. The landscaping is gorgeous.

  1. Smallest
  2. No extra hiking expeditions for coffee, tea, or soda
  3. No extra hiking expeditions to get back to room after a long day walking in the park
  4. Special tea selections
  5. No conferences or conventions causing the roping off of the pool or grounds
  6. Breakfast selections at the quick serve cafeteria that are at responsible prices
  7. Horse drawn carriage rides
  8. Boat rides up to POR or down to DTD, and boat rides back
  9. Price
  10. Queen beds
  11. Ambiance
  12. Nature
  13. Sassagoula River

Thanks for posting! Call me crazy but I don't see Port Orleans listed twice, I see Port Orleans (which is now POFQ) and Dixie Landings (which is now POR).

High summerlady! I saw Port Orleans listed in the top twenty twice: Port Orleans Riverside and Port Orleans French Quarter.

I am savouring the days of my countdown back. Dixie Landings was a fav resort of mine when I lived in Florida. I would only walk to a bus stop or to a nearby hot tub ( i think the hot tubs are now quiet pools ) because the resort was just too big for me even in my youth. I like the feeling of no people and not crowed, especially after being way too close to hundreds of people in the park all day. I was typically the only one in the massive hot tub. When I moved away, I was a little upset that I did not get to stay at Old Key West. In fact, whenever I had to choose 'what resort' it was always Dixie Landings. This time - I plan on gathering little resort specific trinkets like a magnet, pressed quarter, or mug. Thank you Andre for this thread!

DITTO

Our choice of moderates - even thoigh we have only stayed in deluxer resorts.

Main reason - small size, 1st bus stop, boat to DTD, newly rehabed (1 year old when we go in 2012) - did I say SMALL SIZE -
best if not in a deluxe resort when everything is wlakable imside and there is an iverhang above you to protect you from the elements as you walk to the bus stop or boat dock,

Hmm, I don't actually remember that at Dixie Landings. I first stayed there in 1995 - when it had been open for about three years - and certainly the pool area near building 16 was a full pool then, not a hot-tub. Does anyone else recall extra hot-tubs around the resort in the early days?

Andre

Joing the group of POFQ fans, and soon to be fans! We are scheduled for our 1st trip to POFQ in December. Never stayed at a Moderate before, but figured we'd give it a go now that there are queen beds. CSR just didn't appeal to us at all, but we liked the theming we saw at POFQ so what the hay, eh?

Is there anything we shoud know before we go?

Hello! We are here now and LOVE it!
a few things I 've noticed:
blow dryers aren't very powerful.
beds are very comfortable. Pillows are hard.
shower head has great pressure.
rooms are peaceful.
the bus from DHS was superlong. We took the bus to SSR and then downtown Disney and the POFQ. A CM said it would be faster. Took us from 9:15 to 12:30 to get back.
crowds aren't bad but lots of groups full of kids, middle and high school that are rude, running, rough housing and disrespectful. But, it's a good lesson for my kids in how NOT TO EVER BEHAVE!
the little fridge in the room doesn't cool real well. I was going to complain but my parents is the same way.
pool is fun.
food is great!
its hot!
sorry I'm typing on my phone and the keyboard is a pain! I'll try to answer any questions.
