My husband and I are going to WDW for our first anniversary in October. I have looked at all the moderates onlines and I both think that POFQ looks the nicest for a young couple without kids.

We called CRO and were quoted $107/night with our AAA card, which seems really resonable to me.

I want to go ahead and reserve this before POFQ sells out, but now I am worried about transportation. We won't have a car with us, so will be stuck on the buses. I am a big fan of the mid-day break, but I am worried that POFQ is so out of the way that it will take a really long time to get to any of the theme parks.

Thoughts?????

POFQ is near DTD and fairly central to all of the parks. Unless you need to be somewhere at a set time, 30 minutes should be fine (just in case you miss a bus!). If you have a PS, allow an hour, although it rarely takes that long, unless you have to transfer to a resort bus. And at POFQ, that would be fairly easy, as you could take the ferry to DTD and hop a resort bus!

Park closing can be a bit insane, so just relax and let the crowds leave ahead of you. If you're at MK, stay for the good night kiss at the castle, then meander down Main Street. Once you leave an area and head toward the exit, the CMs will close the area behind you. Disney-MGM has a similar ritual, and it's a great time to get some photos at the Sorcerer's hat!

We were at POFQ this past June and found the busses were great. I think that in October when the parks shouldn't be as crowded the busses should be even more efficient for you. We even had our 2 children with us!

You will love the resort! We found it to be beautiful, quiet and convenient. I think it will be very romantic for the 2 of you!

Enjoy your trip, and ask if you have any more questions!

Wow, such great news.

I am going to reserve tomorrow and would like to put a room request in. I am going to ask for non-smoking and anything not facing a parking lot. We can't afford the water-view, are there alot of non water-view rooms that don't face a parking lot?

Oh, and my husband is wondering if the food court has "healthy" options?

I can't wait!!

Yes, there are lots of rooms that don't face the parking lots. And like the others said, the bus transportation is just fine.

The restaurant has quite a variety of foods, including fruits. It was really good.

You will love the FQ!

We were there this last October with two young impatient children ;) We only had to wait for a bus one time for over 5 minutes, and we were there 7 days! We also were a bit worried about the busses at this resort, but now I can't say enough good things about them! They were truly on their game and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again! This is a beautiful relaxing resort, have fun! Make sure and do the boat ride to DTD! :)

Sorry, just read your last post..........

You may want to ask for a courtyard view. There are some beautiful fountains on the property that are located in these courtyards. But really, you just can't go wrong at this resort, its landscaped beautifully. And I agree about the foodcourt, it does have fruit, etc. You'll be just fine. If you want to view the menus for the foodcourt, check out www.allearsnet.com They have all of the menus on that site.

Also, floating around here somewhere is a map of the FQ, if you want to see how all of the buildings are layed out on the property and the location of the pool, etc. I believe its on a thread about the FQ on the resorts board. Have fun!

I haven't stayed there in a few years but from what I recall, the busses were fine. POFQ is kind of in the middle of things.

Actually, I've never really had a problem with busses at any of the hotels. :)

I did not request anything special when I went and I was not facing a parking lot. I think I was facing some trees and the grounds.

Don't forget your swimsuit! POFQ has one of the coolest pools at WDW. :)

We were there last Sept and requested king bed non-smoking bldg 7. We got everything we asked for except they put us in bldg 5. Our room was on the 2nd floor technically facing the parking lot, but we could not see it because the trees were blocking the way. I think you should be fine whereever they put you. We had a lovely adults only trip here ourselves. HTH

thanks for the tip haleysmommom,

i will definetely look for that building map

POFQ is fine for what you are looking for . Don't worry about the view. If you are in your room, you can't have the curtains open because the walkways are right outside your room and everyone would be able to see in. There are no patios or balconies.

If you are looking for action, nightlife, etc. POFQ is NOT the place to be, but it is pretty convenient to get to DTD.

the great thing about POFQ's transportation is that they sometimes share a bus with POR but POFQ gets picked up and dropped off first!

That to me is a huge factor especially if it's a busy time.

I've been leaning towards POFQ for our planned trip in Jan. '06. After reading this, sounds like it's the right choice. It just looked really nice on the DVD and while we'd love to stay at a Deluxe, I'm not sure I could justify spending that much money at this time. (Maybe after we pay off some more debts, but not this time around.)

Now I hope we can get a really great rate! We'd been considering Jan. 1-8, but I was told the half-marathon is the weekend of the 7th-8th...so we might have to reconsider those dates.

The wife and I have stayed at Dixe Landings several times as we are both orginally from south Louisiana (I know, it is now Riverside, but it will always be Dixie Landings to me) and on our last trip to Disney we stayed at Port Orleans. While nice, IMHO POFQ did not have the relaxed atmosphere and comfort of Dixie Landings. (The one sad thing about recenlty becoming DVC members is that we probably won't stay there again)

Please don't get me wrong POFQ is nice and the people were great. It just did not seem like "home". :confused3

My DH and I go to WDW 4 times a year and the POR is by far our favorite resort. We have stayed at the deluxes and the budget hotels, but POR is just so beautiful and charming. We have never requested a specific room, and have always been well pleased.
Bus transportation is simple and convenient. If you are using the dining plan, I would recommend you get a car. If you go to Mousesavers and sign up for the free Emerald Club membership at National, you can get excellent deals on cars - just follow Mary's advice on the web page, and check out the transportation forum on this web site for excellent savings. We got a PT cruiser for 11 days end of Feb-beginning of March for $158. I split it into two rentals to get this deal. You need to be savvy if you rent a car to find the best deals.
We spent our 23rd anniversary at POR and were pleased to find an autographed photo from Mickey and Minnie in our room with congratulations when we returned from the parks. Just let them know that it is your anniversary when you check in.
You won't be disappointed in this hotel, I guarantee it.
Have a great time
Susan

DF and I stayed there last MAY and loved it so much we are doing it for our Honeymoon. The transportation there is nice. As long as it has not changed, although you share a bus with a few other resort stops POFQ is the 1st stop for pick up so you are not boarding an overcrowed bus. I found myself politely giving up my seat for familes towards the end of the pick up, but that is just the way I am personally. Also the POFQ offers boat service to DDM which is a nice relaxing ride.

Hope this helps if you have any other questions PM us, we'd be glad to help :goodvibes

Have a magical trip

Cplofdisneynutz,

Thanks for the great tip on the rental car. I will definetly try that. Turns out my 2 little sisters might join us over the weekend, so we will need a car to get them back to the airport, anyway.
