We are looking at Port Orleans Resort....
But to French Quarter or Riverside thats the question.
Each have there pro's and con's. We love the beauty of French Quarter, but heard that Riverside was bigger. Love that both have the boat to Downtown Disney. Never done that before.
Whats your choice........The debate rages on.......popcorn::

LOL can I have some of that popcorn? ;)

I know, people have very strong opinions about which they like better. I've never stayed at POR, I like the theming at POFQ better personally, and the small size is a big draw. If you're staying in a standard room at POR, you're looking at potentially a very long haul to the main building. If that is something you'd frequent, it could be an issue.

I love the landscaping at POFQ better, too. The boat dock to DTD is pretty centrally located, and you can have beignets for breakfast! :thumbsup2 The only downside I've found at POFQ is the pool. The theming frankly sucks! And because of the small resort size, there are no quiet pools. POR wins the pool battle hands down.

I don't think you can go wrong with either one, plus you can easily walk (or boat) between the two to experience both.

We like the size of POFQ because it is smaller. We really like the themes at POR some places more than others. I love the big white mansion looking buildings, but am not as fond of the alligator bayou area. For food, we prefer POR. If we eat anything at the hotel besides breakfast, we always walk down to POR - it has a lot more options and we better food. On our Jan 2011 trip, we had several bad service at POFQ so we won't do that again.
It is up to you. The good thing is that they both have the boat to DTD and it is a nice walk between the two resorts along the river. We like to stroll that at night and my fiance runs it every morning.
We don't use the pools much. The pool at POFQ is nice with the dragon slide, but there are more pool options at POR.

Discounts at POFQ are not as good as at POR. The current summer program gives a much smaller discount at POFQ. If your decision is financial, and you are waiting for a room discount offer, POR is a safer bet.

I love the theme of the POFQ a lot more than I do the POR-- but I like the POR pool better.

They both have a lot of charm, and are truly great resorts.

We love POFQ because of it's small size. POR is too large and spread out for me. I do love the counter service at POR better then POFQ though.

Just booked POR recently for a week in June. Haven't stayed at either yet, only Pop and CSR. Do like the look of the POR pool better and since I booked a garden view room, I am hoping for a Magnolia Bend one. Loved the look of POFQ as well, but as others have said POR offered a better deal. I doubt you could go wrong with either :)

Love POFQ. Size of the resort and the Beniegts. So I personally would rather see more people say POR so I have an easier time staying at POFQ.:) Either way its all Disney so you are going to have a great trip.

IMO, we prefer POR. We like that POR is larger because we go during a slow time of year and the resort feels nearly empty. POFQ feels crowded to us all the time since it's so small. We also found the food court at POFQ to be very small (had to eat in the lounge) with a lot less offerings. We also enjoy the quiet pools at POR, and POFQ have none. If you're concerned about being placed in a remote building at POR, you could always book preferred.

I've stayed at both and POR wins hands down to me. I much prefer the theming at POR. The decorations at POFQ felt chintzy to me. The landscaping and decorations at POR are gorgeous. I felt POR has the much better food court. While, yes, the beignets are amazing at POFQ, everything else was better at POR to me. As a PP said, POR wins the pool battle with no contest IMO. And also, the boat to DTD stop is better at POR. It stops there for pick up first, so there is never an issue getting on. Also, if you have kids, Yeeha Bob in the lounge at night is awesome.

Have stayed at both. By far like POFQ better. PORS is fine but the real beauty if POFQ.

I am struggling with this decision myself! Hmmm, seems like there are strong supporters of both! This wasn't much help!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
So, what building in POFQ would be best to be able to walk to POR to switch up the dining options? And would that building be far from the bus stop at POFQ? Thanks for any help. Cant wait to try...one of these resorts! Have stayed at CB a few times, and tried ASM and POP in the past.

Also, if you have kids, Yeeha Bob in the lounge at night is awesome.

Even if you don't have kids, Yeeha Bob is awesome! :dance3:

As for the OP's question...I've only stayed at Riverside but took the walk over to French Quarter and both are lovely. Riverside's landscaping and food court appeal to me more, but I would cheerfully stay at either.

If there's no one feature that's a deal maker or breaker (such as quiet pools or resort size), then just browse photos of each and pick whichever appeals to you more. I think you can't go wrong either way.

We're heading for a 5 day stay at POFQ. I was very fortunate to secure it with the military discount (which I understand is almost unheard of). There's only 4 of us on that leg, so I thought I should try it since we may never have the chance again as a family of 5.

We've stayed at POR twice and absolutely adore it (stayed in AB before and after refurb)....so I'm really interested to see how POFQ compares. We do plan to head to POR at least once during our stay.

Most of my friends & family prefer POFQ....I, myself, would really like to try POFQ someday but the theming freaks my girls out :scared1:....then again they don't like clowns either :)

Another vote for the French Quarter. I prefer the smaller size, the New Orleans and Mardi Gras theme, and Elliott Dyson playing jazz at Scat Cat's on weekends! I stayed at POR last year just for a change and wished in the end I was at the French Quarter. POR has the better food court but I can walk there in a few minutes.

I've stayed at both. I liked the small little town feel of POFQ however my favorite it POR. I like the good court there better and the pool and the marina. Both are a good choice though.

Another vote for POR; I love the look of POFQ at night, but I prefer the walk on the grounds at POR.
