A good friend of mine is going to Port Orleans - Riverside in October. He is wondering if it is better / quicker to take the resort bus to the TTC and transfer to a destination bus from there, or board his destination bus directly at POR. He read in one of the guidebooks that it is better to go to the TTC and transfer. Since I have never stayed at POR, and also drive my own vehicle around WDW and almost never take the buses, I can't answer his question. He knows he can't go from resort to resort, he is concerned about getting to th theme parks. I suggested the bus to the TTC if he is visiting MK or Epcot so he & his family can enjoy / experience the monorail, but I don't know if that is his best option. Does anyone have any first hand experience?

Well, we were just at POFQ two weeks ago and the buses we had were only for POFQ. I had read that they normally shared with POR, but not once did we share with them. So I assume that POR had buses all to themselves, meaning the buses would pick up at POR and then go directly to the destination. For us, it was very easy. I just can't say how it will be in October.

I could be completely wrong on this but I have not seen a TTC bus come by the resorts except Fort Wilderness. Years ago, the TTC used to be the hub of all buses but that is not the case now. I was just on a website www.portorleans.org and it does not mention the TTC bus an option for pick up. :confused3

That is never going to be a good idea. There are buses to DHS and AK at the TTC. You would have to use the monorail to get to Epcot.
It's always better to use the buses at your resort. The bus to MK goes directly to the MK....it bypasses the TTC alltogether. I suppose that if they wanted to, they could take the bus from PO to MK and then hop on the express monorail there, and then transfer over to the Epcot line, at the TTC. But, that is going to be time consuming.

He'd be waiting forever for a bus from POR to the TTC - so, no, it's never a good idea to even expect to transfer there, except when traveling between the Magic Kingdom and the other major theme parks.

There are no buses to TTC from PO or any of the other resorts, so it would not be possible to go that route. All buses at PO go directly to the parks.

I agree with the OP that taking the resort bus to the parks is the best way to go. We were at the POFQ at the end of March during Spring Break and our buses were very timely and efficient. A few years ago we stayed at the same resort and the bus would go over to the sister resort POR and pick up people, but they did not do this on our last trip. Going over to the TTC seems like an extra trip and time soaker. Also the PO resorts have a boat that takes you to DTD and returns you to the resort. It's a nice change of pace from the buses and it gets you there in short time.

There are NO buses to the TTC from the resorts.
