I know this has been asked before and I am sorry for asking it again, but what side is better to have on the Western Caribbean - the Port or Starboard?

Thanks for your input.

BUMP!!!

I'm toying with the idea myself and am curious?

I posted the same question last month (but for Eastern itinerary) and as someone told me "It's All Good." LOL that's a direct quote too, I believe. :)

Don't think it matters. We were on Port on our Western back in May. It was good. We have Starboard for the Eastern this coming May. We'll see!

I agree - it is all good, however, on our 4 night cruise we were on the port side and would have preferred to be on the starboard - just for the view.

I know, I know just being on the ship should be good enough, but hey if you can choose the better side why not?

Thanks for your input.

Does anyone happen to know what side has a better view?

Lisa

With as much time as you spend in your cabin, it really shouldnt matter. If you want to see both views just walk laps on deck. HeHe

On the 4 night we did spend some time in our cabin - we have a 2 1/2 year old DD who took a nap every day. While she was napping DH and I enjoyed our verandah.

It really is no big deal but I feel that we will probably be spending a lot more time in our room on the 7 night cruise because we will have another baby at that time and I would like to have a really nice view - that's all!!

Just an example - when we were in Nassau we had a view of the island, well it looked more like a old run down boat dock. When we were in Freeport we had a view of a crane and a mountain of sand. At Castaway Cay we had a view of the ocean (very nice) but if we were on the starboard side we would have had a view of the gorgeous island.

Since I am booking so far in advance and will probably get to pick the cabin which in turn is the side of the ship and will be spending a good amount of time in the room and enjoying the verandah - I just want to be able to have to BEST view.

I hope someone one out there understands my point.

Bumping this up -

Can anyone tell me what side of the ship has a better view for the Western Caribbean?

Thanks,
Lisa

We had the port side on the Western. We had an awesome view of the sunset in Key West (boat docked on Starboard side). In Grand Cayman we had a view of the Island and the tenders (disembarked on the Port side) In Cozumel we had a beautiful view of the Island and the city (boat docked on the Port side) and on Castaway Cay we docked on the port side again. I personally loved the port side. We had views of some of the islands that we passed while we were sailing. I don't think you can go wrong either way though. The views are nice on both sides. We did go over to the starboard side while we were docking in Key West to watch the docking process there. The view of the Island was definitely from the Starboard side there.

The other side of the coin - starboard. Great view Leaving Port Canaveral, all the dockside people waving, etc. In Key West, super view coming into the port and facing the island. GC, doesn't really matter because you are tendered and ship has been known to anchor on either side; Cozumel, port side had a better view of the island, and CC, starboard, again, was the side we disembarked. Back to Canaveral, and starboard again was on the pier side. On CC the ship sometimes backs in which would reverse the pier side. I guess it really doesn't make much difference at all. Topside and the bow are great places to see everything as you are arriving at any port, so stateroom location is really secondary.

O.K. HERE GOES A REALLY DUMB QUESTION BUT I KEEP FORGETTING. WHICH IS STARBOARD AND WHICH IS PORT? ONE OF THESE DAYS I'LL LEARN HOW TO REMEMBER THIS!:smooth:

an easy way to remember is:

PORT = LEFT (both have 4 letters)

STARBOARD = RIGHT

Standing on ship facing the bow (front) - starboard is on your right and port is on your left.
