Port or Starboard at CC?

Hi....
We'll be taking our third DCL cruise in September, and I specifically requested a starboard cabin because the ship backed into port at Castaway Cay and the view of the island was gorgeous. Does anyone know if they still do it that way, and can you tell me if a starboard view was good in the other ports? We're doing the Magic Western, by the way.
Thanks!

We have stayed on both sides and have been on the correct side on each cruise to sit on our verandah and enjoy the view of the island...not the sea.

It really depends on how they decide to dock.

Which direction the captain decides to dock isn't known in advance. If they can't get in one way, they try the other. So, it can't be predicted.

You are right that the view of the island is incredible.

Yeah I did not even think about this when we cruise either time. It just happened for us. I have no idea how we got so lucky. Dh pointed it out to be when I posted on a similar thread. He had to tell me we had stayed on both sides. Of course I did not believe him and grabbed my scrap books to see my room numbers. LOL I hate it when he is right. :rotfl2:

Thank you for the info. On our first cruise, we happened to luck out and be on the island side (starboard then). On our second, I deliberately requeseted a starboard cabin for that reason, then I read on a board (probably this one!!) that the ship now backed in at CC. So I changed my cabin, and we were on the island side again.
I hope we have nice views at all the ports this time- we've got a verandah.
Thanks again.
This board is SO helpful!!

On the Western, Starboard would give you the following views (at least from our cruise).

Key West: Facing the town (Port faces the ocean and the sunset)

Grand Cayman: You anchor in the harbor, so it could be another cruise ship or the downtown area. (Port gives you a different view of the island away form the downtone area.

Cozumel: Depending on the docking spot, another ship or sea between the island and the mainland. (Port faces the town....fun to sit and watch those returning from Carlos & Charlies....)

Castaway Cay: Great view of the "public" areas of CC (Port has the dock and undeveloped areas.

This is exactly the info I wanted! :cool1: Thanks again!

This is the view from the port side when the ship is backed in....not too shabby either so it really does not matter what side you are on!!!

Beautiful photo! Thank you for sharing! :)
