We are taking a Carnival cruise and then spending a week in WDW. What is the cheapest way to rent a car from the port and drop it off at MCO or some how get to WDW and rent a car?

We took a shuttle to the airport from the cruise port, then we did a one way rental from Miami airport to Orlando (it's about a 4.5 hour drive).

Dropped the car off and then hopped on DME to take us to the Disney Resort.

With Budget in Aug 2012 we payed $83 for the one way full size rental.

I'd do a one-way rental at Miami, drive to WDW, keep the car for the week, and return to MCO when flying out. There may be some good weekly rental car rates, even with a one-way rental, and it's nice to have a car as a backup to WDW transportation.

What's the difference in renting at the port of Miami vs, renting at the Miami airport?

I have not done either, but my guess, off the top of my head, would be price and availability.
