I have cruised many times but this is our first with DCL.

Please advise what (other than spa) is open on port days. I assume shops are not (normal), but pools? Pretty sure I've never stayed on board while in port, but we don't intend to visit land in St Thomas. I can find serenity in just chilling, but not sure about 12 yo dd.

Tia.

Pools, hot tubs, Aqua Duck, are all open while in port. Shops are closed. Food is still served: fast food on the pool deck and Cabanas (probably one MDR).

Yes, the kids' spaces are open. Just be aware that there may be (most likely will be) an Open House scheduled at some point, usually in the morning.

Even though there will be an Open House in the youth activities spaces, your 12 year old can still attend this if she is self-check (which I presume she will be so she can go to Edge). Just be aware that supervision by CMs is minimal and there will be adults in the spaces.

There are family activities scheduled on port days, too (i.e. trivia and crafts), just not quite as many as sea days.
