We are going to Disney in May, but are planning a day trip over to Port Canaeral. DBF has never seen the ocean (except from a plane, I say that doesn't count), so he wants to be there to see the sunrise. Where can we go that we can get beach access for the sunrise? From what I'm reading about the public parks, they don't open till 7 a.m. We had thought about getting a room, but the "cheap" rooms are around $100 a night. Wouldn't be that bad, but we are also paying for the room at Disney that night as well. Any ideas?

Cancel the night at Disney and go spend a night a Disney's Vero Beach resort.

If you are planning to see a sunrise you will need to leave Disney an hour and 1/2 or 2 hours before the sun comes up in order to get there in time to see the sunrise.

Or go and see a sunset.

Cocoa Beach Pier...free parking and amazing to watch the sunrise from there! It takes a 45 min from Orlando to Cocoa Beach. We have watched many sunrises there!
