planning on using cruise terminal parking for upcoming cruise, which parking area, what is procedure for luggage and then parking. any one better than another? do we need reserve spot? have only done hotel parking before and taken shuttle. trying to get whole process down before since we will be driving in that morning

Hi

No reservation needed.

You pull up to security guard who checks everyone's ID. Then you are directed to luggage drop, still in car.

Drop luggage. At that point, you can either stay together and drive to parking lot as a family, or leave most of family to proceed to check in while one person parks (pro tip...if you separate, person who parks must keep ID with him/her).

You proceed around loop and have a choice to do more expensive VIP parking which is closer to ship but not covered--a factor in the Florida sun--or to the parking garage, which is a multi-floor garage with lots of spaces. I do the garage. Pro tip--there's a walkway to the terminal on the third floor. This walkway heads to its own, off-the-beaten-path x ray/security tahtcan be less crowded). If you choose instead to cross back to terminal on 1st floor, line can be longer to get into cruise facility (others being dropped off) and for security--just more people down there.

If you split up, you will ahve to meet your party before they can check in. For this reason, and becasue we were early, last trip we stayed together after luggage drop and BREEZED through security and to check in as a family.

Hope thie helps.

If you just drop your luggage, is that the same as a curbside luggage drop at an airport? You don't have to claim it after the drop off? It will make it to your stateroom?

Yes. After dropoff the next time you see your luggage will be outside your stateroom door.

Therefore, be thoughtful about what you carry on!

You will pull up and give the attendant your name, ID's and cruise info. Have this with you in the car and not in luggage. This area usually open at 10am but the terminal does not open until 10:30.

They then will direct you to one of two places to drop off your luggage. Porters are available at both places. This goes quickly so be sure to have your luggage tags on your bags and keep your day bag with you. Keep RX'x and bathing suites with you. Your checked luggage may not arrive to your cabin till 5pm.

You then will park your car. The parking garage is to the right of the photo the terminal to the left. You pay parking as you enter the garage. There is a crossover bridge on the 3rd floor of the garage. The prefered parking is the uncovered parking in the center of the photo. As pp said not covered and not that much closer.

If you only have carry ons I don't see why you would go to luggage drop, so my guess is yes, you'd skip.

Thank you WJS3 for the info

If you're driving your own vehicle, you can also buy a SunPass sticker for your vehicle and put money on it for tolls for your trip. We're coming from GA and we're going to try it our next cruise.

So glad this was asked. We're driving for the first time in April. How much is this one you speak of at the garage? Does it have a name? Three or four different ones showed up when I googled. is it specifically for Disney passengers?

TIA

If you are asking about parking at Port Canaveral, each terminal has it's own parking area. Disney uses terminal 8. Pricing is based on length of cruise and can be found in the link below.

http://www.portcanaveral.com/Cruise/Directions-Parking

There are also a couple of off-site parking lots which are cheaper.

I'm not sure what you mean "this one you speak of at the garage"--but the garage fees vary according to the length of the cruise and whether or not you are using preferred parking. See here: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/guest-services/departure-port-address-parking/

There is only one area to park for the Disey ship, yes. The outdoor preferred parking and garage are right next to the ship. You really can't miss it.
Thanks! Why doesn't the Wonder show up as a Disney ship? Does it only allow you to book within a short time frame?

Probably because the Wonder isn't sailing itineraries out of Port Canaveral.

We have one from NC (NC Quickpass) that is interchangeable with FLA (SunPass). If you come down I-95 and use exit 205 then you will not pass through any tolls. It is around 11 miles to port once you exit I-95. Have a GREAT cruise.:yay:

Just wanted to make you aware that the procedure can vary from trip to trip. As OP have stated we have dropped off luggage at the curb and was then told to go to the parking garage and get in line there (3rd deck) instead of entering on ground level (Mar 2016) and we were told to drive into the garage and a porter would come and get our checked bags from us in the garage ( Last Week). We did however arrive at the port early (9:00) because we had an early PAT, so they may not have had the curbside porters in place yet. Just know that as you pull onto the drive between the garage and teriminal a Disney employee will approach your vehicle and advise you where to drop luggage that day and where to enter the parking areas. Have a GREAT cruise! :sail:

We're sailing Wonder in April. Will they wait for the PIF date to list it?

Who knows. Depends on how on top of it the Port Canaveral website team is.

Interesting. No doubt this was due to arrival time. At 9 AM, the operation is all "outbound"--porters are getting the last stragglers off the ship/getting set up for "inbound." So the drop off area, as you point out, wasn't ready yet.

Do you have a GA Peach Pass account? FL currently has interoperability agreements in place with NC (Quick Pass) and GA (Peach Pass).

We are new to GA, didn't know there were even toll roads in GA. I might get one if we end up visiting DD in ATL more, assuming that's where they are and if it makes our visits easier. Although if we have a SunPass sticker and there's an agreement in place, we can probably just use that.
