Port Adventures: Adding 1 more?

Has anyone had any luck adding one more person to a port adventure? With tastings and other things, it always seems like there might be some extra availability, but I don’t necessarily know the same thing about port aventures. That is to say, if I go there when we get on the ship, what are the chances we’d be able to add one more person to our party?

I would add everyone when you book initially. It seems like some excursions have pretty limited availability and I wouldn't count on being able to do that.

I would suggest finding your cruise group on social media and seeing if anyone is dropping an excursion or dropping a person. Availability was very tight for our July 9 night Southern. Some Platinums and Golds didn't get the excursions they wanted. They have added some recently, maybe due to the tour companies being able to add capacity, but they have also canceled some people and reduced capacity on some excursions due to tour company capacity. I think due to covid rules and hiring issues, the local touring companies are having issues with capacity on the tours or even being able to offer them. I wouldn't count on being able to go a third party route very late either, because many of the third party stuff for our ports have also reached tour capacity.

We are on this cruise as well. Two of our excursions I could only get 2 out of 3 of us booked on. I was hope if things might open up and we could add the third person - but so far no luck.

I suggest you keep watching for availability to open up. If still unsuccessful, when you board go to the Port Adventures desk (or on the app now?) and see if they are doing a waitlist.

As PP says, it’s been hard enough for CC status folks to get some things booked. As a last minute joiner, the individual needs to realize they may not be able to do everything the rest of the party planned.

I'm a DCL newbie and I have one port adventure I hope opens. Does anyone know if I call they have a waitlist or is that only once you board?

Keep checking back on the app or website. We got into some of the ones we wanted close to the date of the cruise because other people canceled. There is no waiitlist. More opened once we got to the day or our cruise. As people cancel their excursions (or in some cases their cruise) there will be openings. When you get to the port (if you are out of Port Canaveral) you can start looking as soon as you connect to the ship’s wifi on the app. You can book things before you go through the actually physical check in and security.

Thank you so much! I figured and I keep checking quite often so I will keep my fingers crossed. I am leaving out of Vancouver but I am sure it is the same process. Keeping fingers crossed and knowing we will have a great time either way. :)

When we went to Alaska in June, our excursion was canceled and basically I checked every day to find a spot on the replacement. Eventually we got lucky. I also needed one spot for something we did in July and again I just checked every day, several times a day sometimes. Lucky then too! Only thing we never get lucky with is tastings 🤷‍♀️

That gives me hope. I don't really drink so the tastings don't interest me. But I really want the glacier explorer and I know that's a popular one.

We had VERY rocky waters the day before the glacier explorer - enough that my husband cancelled the glacier explorer for fear that he wouldn’t be able to handle it. In this situation, my father took his place, but just wanted to illustrate that for that excursion in particular, situations may cause people to cancel! Keep checking online and at the port excursion desk.
