This is my first Post. We are staying at POR 11/3-11/10. Any suggestions? :bounce:

Plan to spend some time at the resort. It is a beautiful resort with lovely walking paths. There are also surrey bikes that you can rent by the hour, we had a blast with those.

Oh! And welcome to the DIS!

Its a very pretty and relaxing resort. I will be there Nov. 1-8, though this trip I'm going with my sister and her two children 5 & 6 so I don't think it will be as relaxing as I'm used to. My youngest is 17. I'm looking forward to being there with little ones again. The food court is good for quick breakfast and snacks. Boatrights the sitdown restaurant is very good also. You can rent bikes, single or surrey and boats can be rented also. They also have a carriage ride. And the boat to DTD is nice also. I've been to this resort many times if you have any specific questions just ask.

Defiantly take the boat to DD, it is a very realxing ride and sometimes quicker that the bus. Only thing is if you get cold easily than take a light jacket or sweatshirt, especialy if going at night.
As sue1013 stated Boatwrights is great, but i would recommend eating breakfast there, it much better than at the food court.
Enjoy your trip! :)

Welcome to the DIS boards!

We belong to DVC now, but prior to owning POR was our favorite moderate. We always requested the alligator bayou section as opposed to mansions. It's really pretty, relaxing, the food court is great for quick meals and less expensive than having to go to a sit down restaurant, especially for breakfast.

If you can, definitely rent a boat and take a spin down to DD - very relaxing.

Have a wonderful time.

From most of the water-view rooms, you can see a pool. Only a few rooms in certain buildings have nice (unobstructed) views of the river. This is my experience from the Alligator Bayou section. If you have already paid for a water-view, request a river-view. If you haven't, the stardard view will do just fine. All the rooms are open to the walkway, that is, every view will, at times, be interrupted by other guests.

Enjoy the freedom of Disney motorcoaches and boats, but a car is nice for visiting other resorts. :)

Also, I've read there is currently an entertainer at the lounge who is not to be missed!

Go fishing! I'd like to hear your stories about the big ones that got away when you get back from Ol' Man Island! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Thanks for the input. I will be staying in the bayou. Does it mater what building numbers?:bounce:

SalandJeff, is that $99 round trip? What air line.

We got $130 round trip from Song (Delta).

Hi there bibeau. welcome!! Alligator Bayou building 14 is the closest to the food court \ main building, but 15 and 16 are also nice. Try the River Roost Lounge to see Piano Bob. He is a real hoot!! Check the sign there when you check in, he has a couple nights off during the week. The beignets at the food court bakery are yummy!! Have a good trip!! We like POR alot!!

Our $99 airfare is rt on Southwest out of Hartford (Bradley).

It was a fare sale - you had to buy tix by 8/28 and travel by 9/28. I think this is the cheapest we've ever flown!

Welcome bibeau. You will love POR. We stayed there in 2000 when it was still called Dixie Landings. Our family enjoyed the rustic look of the room. We were in the AB Section, Building 14, which was a skip, hop, and a jump fromt he food court.

Have a great trip. :D
