Hi all. We are leaving Saturday for vacation (the first part will be spent in Jacksonville and then off to Disney) We will arrive at Disney on 3/28 (for e-night!)... anyway, we will be staying at POR for the first time and I have a couple of questions.

First: Where does the boat to DTD pick up/drop off at the resort? I have a map and was unclear of where the location was.

Second: any preferences between the mansions and the bayou? I think I would like to stay in the mansions (they have the elevators?) but the in-laws will be arriving the next day and FIL is insisting on staying on the bayou side (he says the room layout is different)

Third: do both sides of the resort have adjoining rooms?

Fourth: am I correct in that there are laundry facilities by each of the quiet pools ( and not the main pool)?

Fifth: anything else I should know about this resort?

Thanks for the help. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!
Have a Disney Day!!:Pinkbounc

the boat to DTD docks near the main building, behind where you can rent the bikes, etc. easy walk to the building or nearby area. we have stayed in both sections and really do prefer the bayous. they are rustic in appearance and quiet. i am pretty sure each section has connecting rooms. we really like breakfast at boatwright's. seems to be quicker than the foodcourt. but we do get there at opening so i can not say about the time spent later in the morning. have a great trip!:p

We stayed in the mansions and really enjoyed it. Our room was a connecting room although we didn't use it. We were just across the river from the main pool and the food court. Have a great trip.

I believe only 1 building in the mansions has an elevator (the one with 3 stories). We just got back and I used the laundry. It was by one of the quiet pools in the AB section. It was $2 for a load in the washer and $2 for the dryer, but it took 2 times for all my clothes to be dry. (The dryer only runs for 30 minutes.)

Thanks for all of the replies. I have thought of one other question... Does POR have the retractable clothesline in the bathroom like POFQ? I'm sure I'll think of other questions and everyone on here has been such a great help! THANKS!

Yes they do have the clothlines in the bathroom. We stayed in Magnoila Bend Mansion and loved it. It does have an elevator and I'm sure all the mansions do. Have a wonderful trip. We hope to be there in Aug. I'm pretty sure our room was an adjoiing room. And yes the laundry rooms are by the quiet pools.Very convenient while the kids are swimming.

Our family prefers Alligator Bayou. Would have preferred they kept the Dixie Landings name too, but that is off the subject. Boatwright's is the best for any meal you decide to eat there. Don't forget about the cotton co-op (the bar) yes, kids have a good time there too. We have a six year old and the have sat by the fireplace and enjoyed listening to whoever was putting on a show. They also serve snacks. It is a great place to sit and unwind.

Old man island has been refurbished. Haven't been there since it has been redone, but sounds fun.

The cast seem to be especially friendly there.

I do however miss the ravioli they had at the food court. There are lots of choices in the food court. From BBQ to pizza. Don't forget about the bakery goods.

Well have fun and enjoy the atmosphere especially the boat ride to Downtown Disney.

I'm jealous, I want to go back, just talking about it.

Diane
