POR vs All Star Sports (vs. another Value)

So we are booked at Port Orleans, and it is myself, DH, DD (will be 5), DS (will be 3) in one room. My parents in another and my step kids + girlfriend in another.

We are well able to pay for the room we have booked now. But, I'm starting to wonder if I want to save even more money and go to a value resort. (I said sports, because, I've been reading, thats the first on pick up/drop off etc).

I think my two kids will be young enough not to care where we are staying, plus the larger than life sized items they would probably think are awesome.
My parents don't care either, but I'm wondering if my steps kids will be disappointment. Mind you, we are paying for everything except extra food and souvenirs for them. (and the oldest and his girlfriends plain ticket).

We also thought about POR because of the Pull Down bed. If the one SS gets annoyed with his brother, he could technically crash in our room for the night and rearrange. It may be a bit harder in the Value Resorts (aren't the beds smaller too?)

Just a thought to save some money.... what does everyone else think? My 4 trips to Disney when I was younger, have all been in moderate resorts, so I don't know what a Deluxe feels like, or a Value. I do plan on taking mid-day breaks though with the kids, and I guess I heard the values can also be loud.

Does anyone know do groups take trips in September to Disney?

Just so you know the beds at POR are queens but I think the Values are doubles. The pull down Murphy beds are only in Alligator Bayou section at POR.

If you do not mind a little bit smaller room and a full size bed, then a value may be the way to go. I know our DDs loved ASMO the best out of the values we stayed at. We now much more rather have the queen beds and DDs like having a slide at the main pool.

Considering that we have a Queen bed now, and half the time both kids want to sleep with us. I think DH would be happy to have even a double to himself, and the kids both squish in with me. The more I think about it, the more I think I'll switch to save some money.

Does anyone know if things are going on that groups would be there in September (6-12?)
ASMO? Music? I'm not completely up on my abbreviations.

Thanks.

With the big group, you might look at the suites at Art of Animation. If I remember right, they don't share busses with other resorts.

WDW has 3 All-Star resorts, Sports - ASSP, Movies - ASMO and Music - ASMU
