so after hearing the free dining ofer is to return soon , i have just been browsing the disney website

i had felt my decision was settled already on POR mainly because of the price and that we had been told POF didnt fit 5 in a room

however its now showing on the disney website as avaiable to book ,, i originally prefered POF for the snake slide , but would love to hear some comparisons

I have only been to riverside and are going again this year it is a lot bigger and the food court is meant to be better than French quarter I thought riverside only did rooms for 5 as we are a family of 5 it probably depends how old your youngest is or when they did referb may of added 5 per room

you can't really go wrong with either especially as they are so close to each other and you can just walk between them to use each others facilities. Personally I wouldn't stay somewhere just because I like the swimming pool. Both resorts have been recently renovated so both are in tip top condition. POF is far smaller but you are never far away from a bus stop at POR so thats not really an issue. The food court at POR is far bigger and therefore has a lot more options but the POFQ is ok as well and they do the Beignets there as well:) Rooms at POR/Alligator Bayou section do offer an extra bed for a child so can sleep 5. We have stayed at both and do prefer the mansion houses at POR most but honestly you wouldn't be disappointed with anywhere on the Port Orleans resort its just so pretty..

the pool is always the first thing i look at !! it is like the most impotant thing to me , totally can not be a square pool !!

Bex, I am so interested in your thread we too want PO because there are 5 off us , I am looking at booking 2014 so justplaying about at the miniute with prices based on 2013 but got some great quotes for Port Orleans.

Is it the Riverside or french Quarter that has the water slide in the pool because like you a good pool would sway my decison

agree the pool is a factor but would have thought that the rooms and other facilities were more important and location. Either way both resorts have everything going for them..good rooms, good foodcourts and non square pools which both have a pool bar and a hot tub:) and obviously Port Orleans is in a fab location..
POR pool also has a slide and also lots of quiet pools half of which are also not square:) Love the boat ride to DTD so much better then waiting for a bus, which you can also do.
POR also has some good entertainment by Bob Jackson, whom people come from miles around to see..
Love the place and will be going back there in two weeks time:goodvibes

the french pool hAs the big sea snake slide !!

im always on the disney website and today is teh first day i have ever noticed the frenh quater give us a price , also been told in travel agents it was only teh riverside that could accomodate 5

im looking at sept 2013 and hotel and tix is about £2700 so hopefully get teh free dining aswell when its back on

be interested to see if any other resort sleeps 5. I want the free dining but will need to upgrade to DDP as staying at PO on QSDP is not enough food for us.

We have stayed at both. At the minute I would lean more towards POFQ because as it was a smaller resort I felt better when DD wanted to go to the food court to refill her mug or get a snack.

We stayed at POFQ more recently and it is a lovely resort:)

well today it says that french quater does not accomodate us again ?? maybe it was a glitch yesterday

not sure what your budget is but thomas cook do a good deal on beach club as they allow you to have 3 child prices !! £7,900 for flights acomodation , free dining, tix , plus car and insurance

Love podq, stayed there when i was pregnant and the resort is so nice, not too big. We walked to riverside several times but i prefered fq

We are looking at fq for next year too, the food court is hood as well :-)

I meant to post this earlier but didn't get round to it - I was just playing around on the site (OK, was just putting in my booking that I already made a month or so ago to see if the price has changed :lmao:), and it came up with POFQ sleeping 1-5. Here's the screen shot:

So not sure why it's not showing up for you now

POFQ is small but in reality you can be just as near to their food court as you could be at POR to theirs ie.. We found it was just the same walk from say the mansion houses on POR to the food court as it was from some of the building in POFQ to their foodcourt. In some of the buildings at POFQ you are nearer to POR food court! It just depends where you end up. You can be extremely close to the food courts at both resorts..
Both resorts are great and I wouldn't hesitate to stay in either but if pushed I would always chose POR for its extra facilities..

helpful screen shot thanks, maybe its just full for the dates i want now??

searching 7th -21st sept 2013

Well, this is strange

I searched your dates, and yes, like you say, it brings up the 'Standard view - sleeps 1 - 4'.

So I searched for my dates again as per the screen shot above - nothing has changed, but it also says on this search 'sleeps 1-4' whereas at 11 o'clock this morning it said 'sleeps 1-5'. Both standard view room.

Weird!

i was suprised last night when it was showing available as it had always shown as not been able to acomodate us :( oh well no snake slide

Stopping at POFQ now. The snake slide is not very good. The bus service to POFQ is better then the one to POR. If you get a bus that goes to POR first it adds 20 minutes to your journey.
