We are visiting WDW in March 2009. We are a family of 5. Our kids at time of travel will be DS 16, DD 13, DD 13. I am wondering if we should bring a blow up mattress rather than use the trundle bed. My girls aren't small dainty; all my kids weigh over 100 pounds. We thought about renting connecting rooms at one of the All Star Resorts but we won't be spending much time in the room except to sleep.

I need opinions of which we should do. The price difference isn't much between two rooms at AllStar or POR. I am trying to decide and it's driving me nuts.

The trundle, is twin size in width, but has to be shorter in length to slide under the double. I believe a child at 5 feet in height would be comfortable.

The best part is the kid won't have to make it up!

I remember that someone posted a picture once. MAybe they will again.

With regards to the question of which resort, I would go with POR. It has a pool slide and is quieter. That makes it better to me.

Unless you specifically want to stay at POR, (you like the theme, or the pool, etc.) I would book 2 rooms at a Value, or consider the Family Suite at ASMusic.

With 2 rooms or the suite, you'll have 2 bathrooms (you'll be able to get ready and out, faster in the morning)... and a kitchenette if you get the suite.

Keep in mind, connecting rooms are not guaranteed.

I would go with 2 connecting rooms at a value resort. That second bathroom and tv will be worth the extra money. Plus everyone will have a comfortable bed. That trundle bed is not very big or comfortable. Disney does not recommend for kids over age 9.

We used the trundle bed for my 5 year old in August 07. It worked great. In fact, my 7 year old wanted to sleep in it so they ended up alternating each night.

I think they will guarantee you connecting rooms if the second room is for minors.

Personally I would go with a Family Suite at ASMusic. 2 bathrooms would be a must for me traveling with 3 teens. The trundle bed is small for a 16 year old. The kitchenette would also save you money I would think (although POR does have a fridge). You would also have a little more privacy - I can't imagine 2 adults and 3 teens all in a room at POR for more than a night or two.

We are a family of five - normally my 16 year old DS sleeps on it and he is now 5'7". We also bring our blow up mattress at times, but he says the trundle is more comfortable. But we have finally decided to do two rooms going forward or perhaps do a deluxe with their daybed.

Here is a picture taken two weeks ago...My kids loved the trundle, they actually fought over it...They are 9 & 6.

We're crazy, I know. We have had 4 adults and 1 child in the trundle rooms @ POR. Here's the kicker...DH (230+ lbs and 6'1") perfers to sleep in the trundle and make my DD sleep with me so he has more room! LOL He says it is very comfortable. But then again, we are opting for 2 nights @ POR and 3 @ CR this year to give us more "bed" space. It's doable, but you have to really love each other!:scared:
