Anyone else staying at the POR through the SOG?
Also does anyone know what buildings we will be staying in? I called about two months ago and no one seemed to know. TIA!

Hi jpmom97,
We will arrive at POR through SOG on Feb. 11th. I was told that we will be in the AB section. The SOG reservationist said that our reservation is for a family of five and we will automatically be placed in a room with a trundle. We'll see. The kids may end up sleeping three in a bed like the Three Stooges! I am hoping that SOG will open a ticket office at POR so that we don't have to travel to the Contemporary to buy our park passes. I'm also hoping that POFQ will reopen so that we can enjoy both pools. I'll be keeping an eye on the forums to see if either of these wishes comes true! Have fun planning your trip.

HI,
Last may I stayed at POR with 5 people and we stayed at AB. I loved it. My youngest DD slept on the trundle bed and was very comfortable there. We originally went through SOG to get POR but after some research I found I could book the room cheaper through WDW with one of their discount codes. We took the bus to CR to buy our park hopper tickets. It really wasnt a big deal to make the extra trip to CR to get them, we saved alot of money buy using the stars and stripes passes. After we bought our tickets we went to blizzard beach, since at that time it didnt open til 11am. It gave us time to get to CR, buy our passes and still get to BB before they opened. The trundle beds are not bad, anyone under 5 feet tall can sleep on them without any problems. My youngest DD was 9 when we were at POR and she loved the trundle bed and slept very well. She is a tall 9 yr old but still under 5 feet....but barely. she is almost as tall as me. Have fun... wish I was going with you.

Thanks, I figured AB was where they will put us. I have 2 rooms, ground floor handicapped reserved. My parents a taking us to Disney and my mom is handicap. I am hoping too they open a shop at POR to get our tickets. I wish Disney would extend their promo they have now for active military, they would help out a lot.

Thanks for the info, jhawk. It's nice to hear good things about POR. We were originally scheduled to stay at the new SOG but got bumped to POR. I don't think we can get better rates from any other source because we're going during President's week.

Hi jpmom97! I wanted to clear up my previous post. The reservationist did not specifically mention AB. He assured me that our family would be placed in a room that accomodates 5 people. AB is the only place at POR that sleeps 5 people. You might be in the Mansions (is that what they're called?) since you will have less than 5 people in each room. I don't know if SOG guests are being kept in one section or are being plugged into available space throughout the resort. Where ever you end up, have a great trip with your family!

That stay was in December last year. We were told that SOGgers weren't put in any particular location when staying due to SOG overflow. We LOVE FQ and miss it, can't wait for it to open again.

Be aware that SOG has shortened its "store" hours and is only open until 1700 (5pm). So if you're like me on my most recent trip with a friend and arrive 5 minutes after 5 you have to wait until the next am to buy tickets :(

My friend and I toured a few resorts last week and Port Orleans -Riverside was looking great! You're going to have such a wonderful time!

Thanks! No one seemed to know where they were putting us when I called SOG and Central Res. They did assure me that no room upgrade was available. We were willing to pay a little extra for a pool view since the parks will be closing early in the Feb we figured we would be hanging by the pool, but nope.

When we flew to WDW in may our plane arrived late at about 4:30 pm. by the time we got to WDW and settled in it wasnt worth going to CR to get our stars and stripes tickets (closed anyway) so we took the boat to DTD and had dinner at the rainforest cafe and did some shopping. IF you arent able to get a full days worth out of you length of stay pass you might want to go to DTD instead and buy your park passes the next day. It worked out well for us.

When we found we couldn't get our tickets last Monday we decided to go to the Poly and have some liquid refreshment. We got drinks at the pool bar and sat near the beach relaxing, then treated ourselves to dinner at Ohana! The drinks were great and the food was fantastic!
