POR royal room, std view?

For those who have stayed in a royal room- how is the standard view? I usually don't pay for views in a mod, but am wondering if facing a parking lot are there trees or something in between? Don't want headlights/noise from the parking lot. Is it far enough from the building? Would river view be more quiet?

We had a RR and were upgraded to WV, but got to see the standard view rooms frequently on our trips to the car. It appeared to me that the views would be parking lot, especially on the higher floors (with some scenery). The way the rooms are, I don't see shining headlights being much a problem as the ground floor rooms have some toparies and bushes between the parking lot area and the mansion which would block headlights for the most part, IMO. I can't say how noisy it was, but would imagine the human traffic through the building would be noisier than the cars - we had some issues with kids running around and could definitely tell when people were coming back from pm EMH, but most of that is expected.

That said, we were overlooking the mansion courtyard straight out to the river, and it was very scenic, so for that part alone it might be worth the upgrade... just very serene and quiet.

We did a standard view in the RR, it is def a parking lot view on the back side of the building. When we booked I misunderstood the map. Not thinking water view was facing the middle of the resort not the water on the backside. Completely my fault, but they are the rooms farthest from everything.

We stayed in a std view RR in April...definately a parking lot view...we did not hear a lot of noise. The curtains and blinds don't let in much light, so I wouldn't worry about headlights/parking lot lights...

We are booked for a Royal room in Nov. and I'm not worrying about the view at all. I'm not paying extra for a water view because I promise you the land scape is so lush and full it pretty much blocks out any view from your room. Plus, it's not like the parking lot is right outside of your door, it's several steps away.

Building 14 in AB is the best location that we have ever had while staying at Riverside. We have stayed in building 16 and 15 too and they good locations too! The last time we went I did do a room request for a bottom floor room in building 14, and I was so happy when we got it!!

I would never want to stay in building in buildings 26, 27, 38 or 39 because they are not only far from the parking lot which is a major pain when unloading and loading the car, but they are also far from the food court. They do have bus stops close by though.

Not to confuse the situation, but depending on the room, both. We were in Riverview RR at Oak Manor, and walked across the bridge to the main depot in front of the main building. My in-laws were in building 14 or 15, walked across their bridge, and we met at the bus depot there.

Oak Manor is closer to the secondary depot on the bus route, while the preferred AB rooms felt REALLY far from the West Depot... but it didn't seem to matter because that's why we used the main one in front of the main building.

Sorry I can't help more, but our trip last year was a great sample of the different rooms at POR and their locations - in laws were in AB, we were in Mansions, and we learned a lot about how to get places when we would meet up.

I'm sitting here with my map from our last visit and I'm trying to figure our where we will be. We are going to be in a Royal room, and they are in buildings 90 and 95, right? I'm new to that side since we normally stay in AB. Is this where you stayed? I'm trying to decide what building to request. I'm not worried about the view, but I do want to be close to the bridge to the food court so I'm thinking building 95.

I was in a Royal standard view room, right next to a garden view room. I was on the back courtyard. Looking directly in front of us, there was another room (we were on a kind of corner). Looking at 1 o'clock, we saw the courtyard. In the distance at about 3 o'clock was a parking lot.

The Garden View room had pretty much the same view, except they saw the courtyard at 12 o'clock. They also saw the parking lot as much as we did.

If I had paid for a Garden View room, I'd have been pissed.

We were also very close to the hallway that brought us to the front of the building. It took us about 2 minutes longer to get to the food court than if we had been in a River View room.

I think it was room 9206, Magnolia Bend 2nd floor. You can see it at www.portorleans.org.

We stayed in a GV room and it was awesome. We had a view of the courtyard and the water. It was situated in just the right place!!

I honestly don't know the building numbers for the mansions - the AB buildings were all numbered, but the mansions had names. We stayed in Oak Manor, which was the third building clockwise from AB, second to last mansion from the edge of the resort. It's the one closest to the crossover bridge that leads to the main building (not the bridge that leads to the pool area).

We stayed in a standard view Royal Room this past December and I thought it was perfect. Personally, I would never pay extra for any special view. When we are in our room, we are sleeping so our blinds are closed. The room we had though was in Parterre Place room 9762. It was right next to the garden view room, but kinda tucked in the corner. It was perfect. And it looks far away, but I was pleasantly surprised by how close to the main building it was. The scenery at POR is amazing, and every morning and night I thoroughly enjoyed the walk.

I regret not keeping notes on which rooms we have stayed at. I have stayed at both POR and POFQ. I loved both of them--they are Disney's best kept secret. I believe we stayed in PP building in Riverside. We wanted to be away from the pools because we wouldn't be using them. The grounds are so beautiful! If you are staying in a princess room there are a lot of hidden Mickey's!

Oh that's okay!! I'm sitting here looking at the map again and I'm guessing that you were in building 90. It looks like 90 or 95 either one would be just fine. Hopefully we will get lucky again!!
