POR Royal Room or AKL Standard?

We have a choice of a Royal Room at POR or AKL Standard for not too much of a difference in price. I'm torn between the two. Which do you prefer and why? Our little guy will be around 2 when we go!

That's a tough one. We've stayed in both and they are both lovely rooms and beautiful resorts. I think I would pick AKL. The overall theming is just spectacular and I love the interior hallways. We've stayed in a standard view in AKL and it was just fine!

With a little boy, AKL for sure!! If you had a girl, I'd say AKL even still at age 2 (maybe if she was older the Royal Rooms - they are gorgeous!).

Can't beat Deluxe.

I've never stayed at either but I would pick AKL. I will always try to go deluxe if the price is right.

The AKL should be a lot of fun. I'm almost jealous! Just for the record, I did stay in one of the Royal Rooms shortly after they came out and as a big princess fan it was fun to see the little details, but after the first couple of hours I didn't find the cost worth it.

Those are my two favorite resorts, so I don't really think you can go wrong!

Little boys love the princesses too!

I would've said POR if your son was older, but since he's only 2 I think AKL would be a lot more fun for him. We just went in March and had a Standard room and saw lots of animals from our room! At one time there were around 4 giraffes, zebras, and other animals. When we got to AKL they gave us a room that wasn't really near where I asked for, so I simply asked if we could move and they were very willing to do so. The first room we had was near the stables which wasn't horrible, but definitely not as good a view as the second! Also, our first room was right next to the stairwell and that was HORRIBLE. I will never take a room next to the stairs again. We heard that large, fire door shutting all night long and it was terrible.

Standard at AKL.

I have stayed at POR (but in a standard room) and AKL (in both Savanna view and standard view.) My standard view room still had LOTS of animals outside our room--it just also had views of some ugly fencing/buildings instead of the "savanna." There are many places throughout AKL to view animals, and your son will be able to enjoy the splash pad at Kidani village.

Take a look at the room views on Touring Plans - there are some standard view rooms that have a partial Savannah view. We were in room 2226 in June, and we had a wonderful view, we saw animals every time we looked out and they came really close.

AKL is an awesome resort, you will love it! Have a great trip .

AKL it is! Thanks, everyone, for your input! We are so excited! Sounds like I won't need to worry about seeing animals from our room. I'll try to put in a request before we go!
