Overall, we had a fabulous time at Disney and really liked POR. It was our first time there after staying at WL last summer. Our group consisted of me, my DH, DS1 (6 years old) and DS2 (4 years old).
The property is absolutely gorgeous, very relaxing. The main pool is great, kids had a blast. We were always able to get a chair. The hot tub is up and running, beware it is VERY HOT.
We were in Magnolia Terrace and loved the location of the building. It took us thirty seconds to get to the East bus stop. It was also a very short walk to the main pool and the main building.
Our room was very pretty and clean, and I loved the layout. We had more than enough room for all of our clothes and toiletries. Our luggage did not fit under the bed though, so we had to store it in the corner of the room, but no big deal. Mousekeeping was great.
Some negatives in comparison to WL: Since it is a motel-like set up in that you enter from the outside, there is no central air and I found the air conditioning very noisy. Also, there were a few bugs in the room I think because the door opens to the outside. Only a few on the first day, after that none.
Bus service was fine at all times except after Wishes and Spectromagic when it became horrible. I think Disney is really dropping the ball here. The first night we stayed for Wishes it took us until near midnight to get back to our room. This ruined our plans for the next day because we were all too tired to get to early entry. We tried one more time and then had to skip Wishes altogether.
There were only 2 buses there after closing, and then there was a lag of about 5-10 minutes for the next one. This doesn't sound bad, except that it takes about 10 minutes to even board the bus when it is there. The process of getting those in a wheelchair on the bus took at least five minutes and then another five to board. We were usually standing too, which is not fun with a four year old. If there were only more buses ready to take people at closing, it would have gone much quicker. During the day bus service was fine, and it was fine for Epcot and MGM.
The restaurants at POR were also lacking. The food court was so slow and the food terrible compared to the one at WL. We did not eat at Boatwrights but the decor was not appealing to me.
Overall though, POR was a great value. WL was a little nicer in most aspects (except the beauty of the grounds, there I felt they were equal) but I would definitely stay at POR again.
Feel free to ask any further questions.
