POR Riverside in Dec - Any Pop Warner Concerns

Hi!

We will be staying at Riverside 12/7-12/13. We travel to WDW frequently and have been there during the cheerleading competitions and events like that. We've never been during POP WARNER...in fact I don't really know what pop warner is I have just heard not such positive comments about people traveling during pop warner days. Can anyone explain what pop warner is and should I have any concerns with when we are going and where we are staying? What impact does Pop Warner have...

Pop Warner is a football/ cheerleading tournament for kids( not sure age groups involved...looked to be about 9-12 yrs of age)When I went I stayed at AS Sports and they can get rowdy but they were always polite.They tend to overrun the food courts and bussing system at times.But honestly...they didn't really bother me.They tend to stay in the values and I think CBR had them one year.I wouldn't stress or worry too much. If you go with the attitude that it is going to be awful chances are it will be...Hope this helps!

We were at POR last month during the entire time of Pop Warner. Most of the cheer teams were staying at both POR and POFQ. We barely even knew they were there!

Once in a while we saw the teams walking around together (in uniform) on their way somewhere else, the food court was busy at times... but not overly so, and the three nights we closed the parks (twice EMH and once w/ MVMCP) we had to wait for a second or third bus...but that was no more than 10-20 min.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay at POR again during Pop Warner. It is a great time of year to visit WDW and the parks are quite manageable.

We saw some Pop Warner kids in the parks, but always w/ their families. I spoke to many of them on the buses to/from the parks and both the kids and the parents were really nice and excited to have "made it" to the competition.

Oh and Mousefest was a BLAST. I only made it to the Mega Mouse Meet due to scheduling but I loved it and can't wait to squeeze in another trip to hang w/ all the Mousefesters!

Thanks for the great feedback. We have always been really lucky with the crowds and the people we've met. It sounds like Pop Warner will be a non-issue. What is mousefest?

We arrived the week after Pop Warner left POR last year. The CM at front desk went on and on about annoying they were doing their cheers EVERYWHERE.

But I assume POR is spread out enough so you don't see them everywhere.
