Would welcome your opinions...We are returning to POR in November, and had initially requested Oak Manor, as we like the mansions, and I wanted to be a little closer to the bus/main buildings than were were last year in Partierre Place. However today I read that Oak Manor was a smoking building YUK!!! Am looking for suggestions for where to change....there are 6 adults and two children in our party, one of the adults is handicapped, so am looking to be fairly close to the action...Next question is do I call CRO and request the change, or fax the resort itself? We had a great time last year, and want the same for this trip. Thanks in advance for your help.... MaryAunt

Check out a map of POR, that will help:

Magnolia Terrace is non smoking and closer to the food court.

As for your room request, it is up for debate whether or not to fax it or put it on your ressie. A word of advice when you put a request on your ressie with CRO: Call back and speak to a different CM to confirm that they actually put the entire request on your ressie. I requested a Mansion non-smoking room. I called back and asked the CM to read my requests. She said that all that was there was non-smoking. I gave her my full request and then called back again. This time, my full request was there.

When you check in and they give your room assignment, if it is not what you want, just politely ask for a different room. If there is one avaible and it is in your price class (i.e. only river view is open and you paid for standard) then I don't see why they wouldn't give it to you.
