POR Requests

We’re a family of four staying in the Garden View rooms in POR. My main request is a room with a murphy bed. Since we aren’t a family of 5 we can’t be guaranteed but this is definitely our most important request. We’re going over New Year’s week so it’s going to be crowded. Should I add another request for closeness to the bus stop or restaurant or would that dilute the chances of getting a murphy bed? If I should add another request should I ask for being close to the bus stop or to the restaurant or both?

If having a murphy bed is your most important thing I would make that your only request. Once you start making multiple they don't know which one is most important. But keep in mind any request is just that, a request. If you need to have that third sleeping space you may want to pack along an air mattress. Or send one to the resort.

This. :thumbsup2

Or change to Preferred as I believe Preferred is only in the Bayou section which has the extra bed.

Preferred was already booked up. It's not absolutely necessary to have a murphy bed, but I have two teens, a boy and a girl, and they don't want to sleep in the same bed. My DD is small enough to fit on the murphy bed and she volunteered, so we'd prefer one. if we don't get one it won't ruin anything. I just didn't want to not request anything else and then get stuck far away from the bus stop or restaurant.

I believe Alligator Bayou has the murphy beds, so definitely request that section. I have no idea if adding additional requests will dilute your request though, sorry.

If you don't mind spending the money for TouringPlans, I am had luck with the request they will fax in for you if you belong and FQ at least as always given me the stuff I have requested when using them.

Does anyone have the direct phone number for Port Orleans Riverside? The number I called must not have been a direct number because the CM had not heard of the Acadian mansion I was requesting.

There isn't one. All numbers listed for any WDW resort routes to a Central Call Center.

Just call back and ask them to note the request you are giving them. If the CM tells you they haven't heard of the Acadian mansion politely ask they note it anyway, that it will make sense to the room assigner. It doesn't matter if they've heard of it or not. The room assigner will have heard of it. They are who matters, not the one making the notes. All they need to do is take the note as you give it.

Or better yet, use the fax service instead, or fax it yourself. POR is great with faxes.

I was planning to call (and fax) and request Magnolia Bend section, upper floor non-connecting room.

Is that too much?

Not too much, but you should specify the priority of the requests. If you don’t, the assigner will not know which is most important so you might end up with only your least important or with none.

Example - my request for Sports in Feb is...

“1st priority - Surf’s Up - Building 1 or 6
2nd priority - Upper floor
3rd priority - King bed”

That way the assigner knows which I prefer, so if nothing is available that meets all 3, they would (in theory) look for something that meets the first 2, and then if there is not a top floor, hopefully there is *A* room in building 1 or 6.

That makes sense. Thanks!

Did you call and tell them to write the priorities or did you fax them?

I'm using the Touring Plans fax service. I picked a room and left the pre-populated text as it was since that is in assigner-speak (direction, etc.) and put my requests in priority order in the more information box. We will see if it works - my stay is in Feb.

Thanks! I will probably do that
