POR renovations

ls1222 - when you spoke to the relocation team did they offer to move you? I'm just wondering if they just told you the it was up in the air and that you'd just have to wait and see and then left it at that?

magicmouse2-we booked November 2-8 so they would have to be booking for the months before November. Maybe they think the wait and see game is an adventure for all of us! HA-HA!

lmm-They did not offer to move us at this time, the supervisor said "it is a possiblility and they will call if we need to be moved". He said "do not call us, its much better to wait for their phone call". I asked what would happen since we are a family of 5- the CM said that we would be offered a discounted upgrade or two rooms at another moderate (at our expense)!!!!!!!! I said "that it would be difficult for us as we booked for the amount we could afford".

Unbelieveable ls1222! In other words if they have to move you, then you have to either buy two rooms at another moderate or pay for a discounted upgrade for something that is totally not under your control? How can they do that?

The cheapest discounted upgrade (AKL SV)was $10 per night for POFQ refugees. I assume that they think most people could afford this. However to charge for an additional room at another moderate is unacceptable!:Pinkbounc

98 days to go!!!!!

Yes a small fee to upgrade to a deluxe is reasonable, paying for two rooms is not.

MY thoughts exactly!!! I think 10.00 is too much for an upgrade as well. That is an extra 70.00 (which could be used for food, ect). I feel that if Disney takes your reservation, knowing that they are not 100% sure you will be able to stay there, then it is out of my hands and they should move us at no charge!! If we were a family of 4 it would be alot easier because we could just be moved to another moderate at no charge. I'm certainly not looking for anything free-I want to stay at POR (we are not even interested in the deluxes). I'm also afraid they won't move us but the amenities will be very limited. According to other posts, the wait time for the busses (AK/MK) have been about 35 minutes. In the past, we have only waited about 10 at the very most. Lets hope everyone keeps posting any updates!!

After reading here about the POR situation, I called Guest Communications (407-363?) Sorry I can't read the last number!! The CM I talked to was very helpful. She actually called the resort while I was on the phone and confirmed that part of the Food Court was closed. I told her I had planned to use food vouchers and the part that was closed was the best part. She told me to call back prior to my visit and we would discuss it again. She offered to move me but I have 5 in a room and can't go to another moderate. She said maybe POFQ would be open by then! I got the impression she would upgrade me if POFQ was not open and the Food Court was still partially closed.

I am going to try and call Disney to book POR for next April. This is the cheapest on site resort for us since we have 5. If they wont take resevations I will have to take two rooms at ASMO which will cost more than 1 room at POR:(
We stil have our ressies for POR september 9th, but I am either going to be moved or will ask to be moved nearer the time.

I did a search on Disney's web site for the FTP for my dates (7/24 - 8/2) and they are still accepting reservations. I guess I'm gonna be ok.

Just secured our ressies for POR (5 in room) for April 8th 2004:D
They are taking bookings for room only ressies but not packages:cool:
Will have to wait and see what happens for our September trip.
Hopefully by next April the rooms will be newly renovated :smooth:

I would hope that they would be done by April, but who knows....I

I think we are all ready beginning our own little support group here, kind of like those that were displaced when the French Quarter closed did. Its interesting to go back and read about all that happened to them. Well, everybody keep us informed about anything you hear.

Yes our own little support group! I think we all need it with the stress and worrying we are all going through! LOL! It's not easy planning the perfect vacation.

:p We went in Sept 2002 and they had just finished painting all the buildings in AB and if I'm not mistaken I think they had also renovated all the Mansion buildings. In January they refurbised Old Man Island pool and bridge. What's left to do??? Maybe the AB rooms.

Hope whatever is being done is finished for our December 12-16, 2003 trip.

They are renovating the interiors of both AB section and the mansions. The rooms are nice, though they could do with a makeover.:)
