POR refurb a/c question

Just booked our family vacation to POR at the end of April!! So excited!
Question: Last time I was there (spring 2010) the rooms still had the old school air conditioners (that made the noise). This was ideal as DD is used to sleeping with white noise in the room. Does anyone know if the refurbed rooms still have "loud" a/c or if they're updated that to be quieter/newer? Just trying to figure out if I should think about a white noise machine...

I don't think the ACs have changed. I could be wrong but I stayed in 2010 and then in a refurbished room in 2011 and I didn't notice any difference in appearance or noise. They are central AC, controlled by the thermostat on the wall.

If you can't get a confirmation, try posting in the POR FAQ thread. Someone there should know.

I was just there in November.

The units were refurbished, not replaced. They took out the controls on the actual unit and put new covers on them.

They added a thermostat on the wall right next to the opening where the sinks are located.
