We will be checking into POR on Dec. 3rd. Now I heard that the rooms are being renovated. Here are my questions...

1. Could I or should I ask for a newly renovated room when we are checking in, or should I call CR and modify my ressie and request a renovated room with them?

2. I have always stayed in the AB rooms, never the mansions. My hubby and I love woodsy views, etc. Are they any different as far as sapce and size of room. I think I will still stick with AB, but just curious.

3. Who else will be there at that time?

Look for me and my Lime Green accessories!!

We'll be checking into POR on Dec 1st for 4 nights. I'm also hoping for a renovated room and prefer the look of the AB section (haven't stayed at POR. but did drive around the resort when I was at WDW in October).

I did put the renovated room request on the ressie, along with a request for an AB room, but now am second guessing myself.

To make my situation even more complicated, I think that my mother and sister might join us for a couple nights before we all move to a timeshare for a week. If that happens, a ground floor room is needed, or a mansion room (I don't think there are elevators in the AB section, are there?) since my mother has a hard time with stairs.

CRO keeps telling me that all the rooms are renovated, but it's obvious from reading these boards that AB section is still being worked on. I also really want a fridge and don't want to pay the $10/night for it.

What to do???

Thanks, I think I 'll call CRO and put in my requests, I guess it can't hurt.

The AB secition of the resort does NOT have elevators. We forgot about that last year and lugging a stroller up and down was insane. This year the little on is a bit older and we now use a stroller that is not so bulky and heavy.

I would really like a frig in our room with the little guy and all. We usually bring a cooler, but since we will only be there for a few nights we don't want to bother with it. I guess if we do not have a frig we will resort to our original plan....put our items to remain cold in one of the sinks and fill it up with ice!!! ( Works quite well!)

I've read that if the room does not have a fridge that one will be supplied on request w/o charge, but I'd also read that about CBR and when I requested that the front desk CM rudely told my husband that there would be a $10/night charge.

Yes, lugging a stroller up the stairs would be pain. I have a feeling that we'll end up in the mansions section since I would assume that it would be hard to get a ground floor AB room since the demand for them is probably high.

I will be bringing a stroller for my son, but can leave it in the rental car--really will just need it for the parks since he is almost 5yo. But, still don't want my mother to have to navigate stairs.

Here's my info from my last visit late Sep this year (and going back to POR early Dec)

My AB room in building 15 was reno'd. Front Desk told me that the only other changes will be new armoires which can house the fridge.

Yes, no elevators in AB.

Rooms are about the same size, but AB rooms often have a trundle bed.

No fridge in room when I got there, like T&B's experience the Front Desk was not pleasant about it. ('We have no fridges, and there is a charge, and don't bother asking for the rest of the week') So I walked back to my room, called housekeeping, and got a (free) fridge in about 10 minutes. No problems at all, they didn't mention the charge or the fact that they were out of fridges.

Any other questions, hopefully I can answer them for you!

I will also be checking in to POR on Dec 3rd. Look for me !
I will be wearing my lime green Mickey heads, and lime green ribbon. ( and oh .... I have flaming red hair )

I have stayed at POR 4 times - all in the AB section, and all while it was still Dixie Landings. I prefer the AB section, but I want a quieter top floor, and doing the stairs might be difficult this year.
So - I am going to request the top floor in one of the mansion buildings. I know that the mansions have elevators.

See you there !

I need to get my DIS gear together.
We will most likely be in the AB section.
We check out on Sunday though:( . Just a short b-day visit for us. (It is my hubby's b-day)and when I made my ressie I mentioned it, maybe we'll have a suprise in our room!:p

I need to get some Mickey Heads. You figure with me WORKING at Home Depot I would have them by now.

We just returned from POR and stayed in the Oak Manor section. We had a corner room on the 1st floor very close to the East Depot bus stop. The room was very nice and appeared to be newly renovated. The walk to the main building was a bit long but beautiful so we didn't mind,

The maximum wait time for the buses was maybe 20 min.

I can't believe all of the hassles about the frigs. All the CM has to do is read the employee website. It says frigs are complimentary now and list what resorts have them. When I go to WL in January, I'll be printing the page and taking it with me. We are not planning on bringing our cooler since we can get a frig.

Claudia and Destination Disney, I'm checking in on the 5th. Decided I need some time to check out the holiday decorations before Mousefest. I requested AB section. Last time was in Mansions. Either one is fine.

I'm still trying to figure out how to show my lime green mickey head. I think I'll put my DIS key chain on my daypack. Good idea about the ribbon, think I'll go get some.

But if you see a 55 yr old woman with green on, say hi!!

See you there

Susan

I'll look for you both. Look for me too. Blonde about 5'2", I will be with my hubby and 2 year old DS. Probably chasing him all over the place!
We check out on the 5th, but may stick around for the day. We have no place to be until later that night, plus who wants to rush away for WDW.
I'm gonna go shopping for a lime green shirt.
They should be on sale right, being they are getting into the fall fashions!

I am soooo pumped!

the completely renovated rooms have new bedspreads and curtains - 2 weeks ago the only building with them appeared to be building 24 - certainly none on the walk from 24 to the food court had the new bedding, the new stuff is bright blue and the old is beige so it was easy to see if they had been done or not.

If you want a close room, then I would forego renovated - well, it depends which is more important to you.

the fridges are free, I just called housekeeping and they brought it with no problems at all

we also requested a ground floor room due to a stroller and that wasn't a problem either (although that may be why we got building 24 and not somewhere closer)
