I have us booked for a standard room in Alligator Bayou, DH said to try to get a preferred room for the extra $65.. what is the difference ?? From past experience it seemed that all the AB rooms are toward the back of the resort anyway..

Actually there are four buildings that are a two minute walk to the main building; those are considered preferred.

Just to clarify. The preferred rooms at POR are the AB rooms closest to the main building (where dining, check in and the south bus stop are located).

I really miss the days when POR didn't have all those room categories:) If you are traveling with children, listen to your husband and pay for the preferred room!! When I took my 5 year old grandson in March, I was so glad I had preferred. It was building 18, less than 2 minutes from the food court and a bus stop. Very handy at 10:00 at night.

oh and thanks for the link to the PRO site ! I can see on the map that it would be better for us to get a preferred room. Las ttime we were in 34 which was right by the bus stop but the walk to eat and use the pool was a ways for the kid.

I agree! We were in Building 18 (back before they made it a preferred building) and loved the location. If I ever stay at PORS (or at CBR again either for that matter) it will be in a preferred room. Those are the two resorts that a preferred room is worth the extra price.
