Por Orleans closing..please read.

Diane-
Thanks, the training is going well, I'm down 34 pounds so far and can run a full 5 miles without feeling like I'm going to die-lol! I couldn't even run 1 mile back in October so I think I'm doing ok.

I bet the 10 mile race was great and I love those cherry blossoms. We are freezing under an inch of ice from an ice storm this weekend. Thank god for indoor tracks!!

Hope the thread helps and hope others post their info from calls there so we can keep the info pipeline going :)

So far all the responses have been great....
for those of you who have read this post and sent your reponses...."way to go " !!!!

Lets keep this going...
It can only help.

Thanks

Several weeks ago I sent e-mails to the two gentlemen listed in this thread. This week I had a phone message from the Executive Offices of Walt Disney World regarding those e-mails. The message stated that Mr. Bob Jackson will be staying put at Port Orleans - Riverside, no need to worry. I was very pleased to hear that. I can't wait to see Bob and his great show during my upcoming WDW vacation.

Hi Janet2K

thanks for the update...i have not gotten a call from the "honchos" regarding Bob.....BUT your response was a great surprise.

We could probably be President & Vice President of the Bob Jackson Fan Club.!!!!!!!!

Great news - thanks for letting us all know, Janet!

Oh, I think my daughter will want to be *Queen* of the Bob Jackson Fan Club. She really fell in love with him and she is counting the days until she gets to sing & dance up on stage with him again!

I got my phone call last night from the "executive" offices at WDW.

Her name was Michelle and she spoke very highly of Bob and did say there were NO plans to take him off stage AT ALL during the renovation process.

Under 100 days and counting.

We just got back from a 4 day stay at WDW and had a great time seeing Bob for the 6th time. Like all Bob shows a few people were there at the beginning and then 100's gathered and stayed during the performance. This guy is just a gifted performer and a real asset to the Disney company.

He is now selling CD's for $10 (we gave him $13). At that time he told me WDW laid him off last year but called him back. I have no idea if this board helped - but - kudo's if it did. Regardless, the thing that will keep him on stage is attendance.

I personally do not think WDW is using him properly - why just the Port Orleans? Why not rotate him around to all the hotels? He is the best kept secret WDW has and they hide him in this one hotel - I just do not understand it.

Bob - if you are reading this "Rock-On". If you have never seen Bob in person - all I can tell you is that you are missing the best show at WDW (and it is FREE!).

Bom_noite, when WDW first "released" Bob from his contract due to the poor economy, I know that a bunch of Dis'ers wrote to Disney asking if they could please bring Bob back. I don't know how much it helped, but it certainly must have added (at least a little bit) into the equation when Disney made the decision to bring him back. When we all read about the recent refurb of Port Orleans, we got concerned again about Bob and started another letter-writing campaign. We wanted to try our best to keep Bob at WDW since his show is loved by so many. Like you said, Bob is one of the best kept secrets at WDW.

If it weren't for the Dis, I wouldn't have known about Bob at all. And because of the nice things that people said about Bob's show, I decided to spend a few nights in the Port Orleans Resort with the specific intent of seeing Bob's show for the very first time. I fell in love with the resort and with Bob's show. I hope Disney hangs onto Bob for a long, long time. I will be at WDW this Fall and plan on seeing Bob's show again. I can't wait.

Thanks Janet for the additional information. I kind of gathered that after reading this and other posts - but was still a bit unclear. You peiced it together.

With regards to Bob and his value to WDW - I am shocked on how many Dis Veterans have never heard or seen the guy. If I owned a company and had this type of talent - I would exploit him!

In addition to showcasing him at other hotels, I would send him on the road to PTA functions / Civic Fund Raisers / etc. With him I would staff marketing folks to give out info on Disney vacations and the DVC! Face to face marketing. If Bob was sent out for 3 months, then, they could re-open Riverside!
