Planning a trip in Dec. trying to decide between the two. No kids, 2 adults. Looking for a somewhat romantic week (and is the Romance package really worth it).

What rooms/ buildings are recommended for either? I heard great things about both places - which is making it really hard to decide.

We actually love both of these places. In fact, this December we will be staying for 5 at VWL and 2 at Dixie Landings (POR sorry, old timer here;) ).

In answer to your question, if it were any other time of year other than Christmas, I would say 'let your wallet rule'- DL is more economical, but WL is so beautiful, worth the extra $. But, you mentioned going at Christmas. For that reason, I would say WL, for sure. Can't beat WL for Christmas (well, GF is pretty awesome, but we still prefer WL).

Also, WL is more romantic. Not as many kiddos as DXL. Quieter. At WL there is only one building (unless you count VWL). AT DXL there is the mansion section (our personal favorite) and Alligator Bayou. We liked the Partierre Place building in the mansion section.

I am not familiar with the Romance Package, no opinion there. Good luck with your trip planning- you have it narrowed down to 2 great hotels.

I prefer WL.
I think it's the most romantic of all resorts. It's just DH and I when we go. You should check out the WL Fact page. They have great advice on what rooms to stay in and pretty much anything you'd need to know about WL is there in that post..here's a link:.

Good luck in making your decision. They both are very nice resorts (I went to POR when it was called Dixie Landings), I just prefer the WL.

I'm having to make the same choice! We're going down for a weekend in early Dec. for dd's 5th birthday. Sort of a "vacation from our vacation" in August (with 18 other family members) and a chance to see WDW decorated for Christmas with our AP's. I went on Disney's website to get a quote for POR, and it kept giving me CBR! If they're sold out, guess my decision is made for me!;)

I will not deny I am biased towards WL. But, at Christmas it is decorated beautifully. They have performers in the lobby in the evenings, we saw a bell choir this past year. This past year, they also had horse drawn sleigh rides outside WL. You had to make your reservation ahead of time. The cost was about $30. WL has a very Christmas feel to it with the fireplace and a cozy feeling.
I know nothing of the Romance package.
If you have never been to WDW at Christmas, take time to tour the hotels, especially the deluxes. They have wonderful scenes and items made with gingerbread. Many of them also offer cookies, hot chocolate, coffee, or cider in the evenings.
I have never been to POR(plan to one day) so I really can't compare it to any other resort.
