POR or POFQ?

We're booked with POR for our upcoming May trip. Now I see that POFQ will be open in time for our trip. Which is the better resort?

I'm thinking POFQ should be better since it's just been renovated. But, is there a possibility our POR ressie will be "relocated" when they start the POR phase of the project? If there's a chance I can get bumped to a better resort at a discounted rate I may be better off riding my POR ressie. Anyone know when the POR renovation will start?

Last year we were booked at POFQ and were offered alternate resorts when they announced the closing. We could have gotten AKL for something like $115 a night! Unfortunately there were five of us going and AKL couldn't accomodate us. We ended up staying at CR with my son's military rate which was well worth it. This year there are only 4 of us and if we could get AKL at a great rate we'd be doing the happy dance!

we love POR and use can use the POFQ too!! the pool and all
are allowed when you stay at the sister property!!

the POR is prettier, bigger, has a better food court, nicer pool..
lots of trees and such so stay at POR
and you get best of both!!
good luck!

Which is "better" is subjective to people's personal taste but I will give you our opinion. We would stay at POFQ as we do not care of the "old south" themeing of POR. Also, POFQ is smaller and since it has just been rehabed the rooms should be in better condition by default. Our vote would be POFQ.

Like the above poster said, which is "better" is subjective.
Here's my humble opinion:
I've stayed at both and loved both. We had a mansion at POR- Magnolia Terrace. POR is beautiful- the landscaping is so pretty and has such a relaxing feel. The food court was good and everything was terrific. The only negative I had is that the walk to the main building/ food court and south bus depot was longer than at POFQ.
POFQ is also beautiful- I read somone describe it as a 'clean New Orleans'. It definitley puts you in a laid back mood also. Jazz music is playing and the food court is great also. We especially like the 'smallness' of this resort. We have DS2 and DD4 and my mom travels with us and has a heart condition which makes it hard for her to walk long distances. This puts POFQ over POR for us. We found both equally pretty and the rooms equally nice. the food courts were both great. The bus service was great at both as well. On that note, POFQ guests are picked up before POR guests, and dropped off first at night. When we were there over Thanksgiving several years ago, our bus only went to POR once- but that is a busy time of year.
Either way I don't think you can go wrong!
