I booked POR for our stay in January—me, DH, DD 5 and DS 2 and am now having second thoughts. We stayed at CBR in 2001, and while the grounds were beautiful, our room was not. I wasn’t horrible, just worn and tired looking. Carpet was filthy, furniture scratched up, etc. I told DH I would never stay there again. Since then we’ve been to WL and AKL, both of which were wonderful. However, unless codes come out, we’ll be at a moderate this year.

I was hoping POFQ would be open by January, but that’s not the case, and initially I stayed away from CS just because of the size. That let POR as our only option. However, the more I read about POR the more I’m worrying about having a worn room like at CBR. Then I started looking more closely at CS. The pool and playground look great! Although I am not a huge fan of the Pepper Market (eaten there in the past while DH was at a conference) I don’t know how often we will eat there.

Which would you do—CS and have a longer walk with little ones or POR and have not as new of a room.

Thanks for your advice!

We have two kids the same age. We usually split time at both POR and CS on our visits. Coronado is larger, to handle the conventions regularly scheduled there. This also means a higher churn on room use. But because of the conventions, the transportation and other services is better than most all other resorts. For example, you can taxi from here to the Boardwalk for dinner easily with no wait whatsoever. Also, the playground and Kiddie pool are better for young kids, maybe even larger.

In the past three years, we have not experienced the worn rooms at POR that others have described. The pool slide is more tame, and the kids love the boat to Downtown and Rainforest Cafe. POR is more intimate than CS, especially in the Alligator Bayou section. There is more of a family feeling with no business people around, and few cell phones are evident.

If you have stayed at these resorts, you know the level of quality offered by a deluxe. They are not the 'Four Seasons', but are a nice place to stay, especially bacause most of our time is spent in the Parks. If you should find anything objectionable, be polite and patient, and Disney will take great care of you.

Have a magical day.

If you wanted to you could return to CBR as the rooms were all remodeled since your last visit.
I was at POR in May and had a nice room. It had a couple stains but it didn't look worn or dirty. I had a room in Parterre place and I thought it was a great location.
But CSR is a wonderful place as well. It is more colorful than POR but not quite as colorful as CBR except the interiors of the rooms. At the other moderates you have to sinks in the vanity. At CSR there is only one. If you wan to be sort of close to everything request a room in the Cabanas.

I would vote for CS based on the playground and the pool. My 2 year old DD loved the Dig Site playground. We like the extensive grounds too because we like the walk. I felt more comfortable with the kids walking there than I did within the parks and the buses were great. We never had to share our bus with another resort and because it's a convention hotel, the buses never seemed that crowded. We never had too long of a wait. I thought this resort was wonderful and look forward to staying there again.
