What have your experiences been with noise at POR - AB Bldgs?

Should I buy some ear plugs? Any other suggestions?

We stayed at one of the Mansion buildings (I think Parterre Place) couple of years ago. The walls seemed to be very thin. Our next door neighbors got back to their rooms every night around midnight. I could hear them all night going to the bathroom flushing. Overall, we enjoyed our trip even with not getting good night sleep.

oops! I just reread your post and noticed AB section!

We found AB to be very quiet! We all got wonderful sleep! The beds are comfy too!

We heard the toilets flush... and some noise from next door. I think the noise was because the connection doors. I know my neighbors heard my 3yo loud and clear in the middle of one night since they opened their door and knocked on ours.

Last time we stayed in AB building 26 and it was perfectly quiet.

Later I read in the UG that it's one of the quietest buildings possible at WDW. :)

I agree Bldg #26 is very quiet along with Bldg #27. The only sounds you could hear was the toilets, but with the jet flush they are equipped with now there is no way to avoid that noise.

We had room 1410 awhile back and it was very noisy. The bell services cart, the maid cart, and the people going to the food court and lobby at all hours. The noise did not make it worth the convience of being close to the food court and lobby.

We stay in the AB section and it is always quiet there. I love it.

Then again we come in from the parks so late I think everyone is already in bed when we get in. :rotfl:

Here is a suggestion, but it may not work for you. We stop at Walgreens on the way to POR from the airport and get a box fan; usually around $15.00. This drowns out any outside noise. It is a little louder then the air conditioner in the room and stays running. We leave it in the room when we leave.

I always thought POR was quiet, and now I know it's true after staying at ASSp last May. It was awful there. DH is a snob, he won't stay at values anymore, but when a couple of dear friends came to celebrate a 40th girls only weekend, we stayed there. I heard my neighbor's every last sniffle and flush it seemed. I can't even remember hearing anything the last time I stayed at POR, and certainly not the turboflush I heard at ASSp.

We were in AB #38 & never heard a peep. Never even saw anyone walk past our room. We will be returning to POR in May & can't wait. We absolutely loved it there.

I've stayed in the mansions only and I was fine with the noise but I would tell you to just go on over to Walgreens or Walmart and buy the ear plugs either way (it is better to get sleep). As your going in off season the hotel seems to place people in every other room (except when the weekend comes up then you may find you have a neighbor for a night or two). The noise that I could hear was the flushing toilets from rooms above me and around me and I usually would start hearing those noises around 7:30ish. I could hear neighbor's child on the weekend come out of their room in the a.m. (8:30 ish) and she ran past my room giggling and parents closed door rather loudly but other than that and the toilets, honestly, I found my room to be very peaceful.

We've stayed at POR AB a number of times and I too am a light sleeper, never had any problems with noise, but we do ask for second floor to avoid overhead sound. Also, white noise puts me to sleep and we've always had the AC on.

If you can sleep well with steady noise, I recommend either a fan or a white noise machine (I actually travel with both). If you need a silent room, then I recommend ear plugs. Either solution will drown out most noises that would wake you up (except for that one guest that must use their loudspeaker voice right outside your door at least once during the trip - and that happens at all the resorts!). I never notice the turbo toilets, as we have those at home and I'm used to them.

We stayed in building 39 room 04 and we did not hear any noise. There was a pool just around the corner and I can see that in those rooms you might here the pool people noise. We had a great room that ws close to a pool and a non crowded bus stop(North Depot).

Buy the ear plugs just to be safe.

We stayed in POR Alligator Bayou, Bldg 14, rooms 1424 and 1425 and didn't hear a thing. But we spent every available moment in the parks, pool and Downtown Disney, so by the end of the day (which was the middle of the night), we were so tired that noise, if there was any, didn't bother us.

I've stayed in POR-AB twice, mansions, once..Polynesian once, BWV a bunch of times, AllStarMusic once, POP three times, BCV once, CR once S/D each once. I have to say, the noisiest stay I had was at the Polynesian. We had a room with a connecting door and we heard everything from next door. It was awful. The nights were bad because kids insisted on running down the halls, hitting each door as they went and then again in the morning!!! My stays at POP were all incredibly quiet...I never heard a peep from my neighbors. Same at Music. POR, all rooms, were really quiet. The one time we had a connecting room we were there with another family and they were in that connecting room, so it wasn't an issue.
I think all the resort rooms are pretty quiet. It all depends on what the neighbors are like. Flushing toilets don't bother me...I hear them at my own house, so I"m not going to complain about it at WDW.
If you're close to an elevator, then you are going to have to expect more noise...comings and goings as well as elevator noises. But, that isn't an issue at POR-AB. For those bldgs, I love the further out bldgs, way at the back.

I don't know! Between the ducks, frogs and crickets it was like a rock concert :rotfl2:  No really, I'm just kidding. It's a very relaxing place to us. :thumbsup2
