Hi all,
New to this forum and was hoping to find some help answering a question on where to stay at POR. I have currently requested the Magnolia Terrace buildihng in the mansions, but, the more I read, the better things I hear about AB. I have seen pictures of the updated rooms at AB. But, all of the pictures I've seen for Mansions are before the rehab. I was wondering if anyone had pictures of the new Mansions room that I could see? I want to compare apples to apples. Also, any thoughts on the plusses and minuses of the two options. I'm having a very hard time deciding! Thanks so much...

I prefer the more casual feel of the Bayou rooms to the Mansions. The Mansions are just too formal and stuffy feeling for me.

This will be our second year at the POR AB section. It is such a beautiful resort. The rooms are roomy enough for our family of 4, the mousekeeping was great, and the food court has alot to choose from. We request a water view looking over a quiet pool. Perfect location!

We prefer AB section, bldg 15 or 18 ... close to main lobby area, food court and bus stop. I think a lot of it will depend on your theme preference. Rooms are same size just different decor. Landscaping around mansion and AB is different giving each area a different feeling. Both, though, have the same type of furniture, etc. I would choose whatever theme appeals to you the most.

Our family has stayed in both. Our room in Magnolia Terrace was very close to the bus stop. The walk to the food court seemed longer and hotter. Alligator Bayou was very lush and shady. I did not think that one room was better than the other.

This past June we stayed at POR and at first had requested a mansion in Magnolia Bend. That was fulfilled, however it was really far away from EVERYTHING. We were in Partierre Place in what looked like a wing. We had paid for a water view and got no view of anything. We were going to spend a lot of time at the Resort so I called down to the front desk and explained our situation. The CM was so nice and very aware of our needs that they said that they can move us to the AB section (bldg #14). That was 100% better. I, at first, didn't think I would of liked the rustic feel that it has, but it turned out being a wonderful room. It was right next to the foodcourt, marina, bus stop, and a very short walk to the main pool. However, if you decide to request a room at AB, make sure you first look at a resort map and request one of the buildings closest to the foodcourt, bus stop, etc... Have fun whatever you decide, POR is a beautiful resort...enjoy!!

We stayed in AB bldg. 14. If you look at a map you can see how close this is to everything. The AB section I feel is as about as nice and it gets. You feel so relaxed in this section with all the trees and greenery all about you. The quiet pools and the way they are tucked in makes it feel as if you came upon a little pond in the woods. We walked about the mansion section and they were very nice and all but just did not give us the same feeling..smjj
