Staying @ POR for our next trip 7.20 - 7.30. We've always stayed in the "mansion" section previously, but are considering the Bayou for this trip. What do you think? Will we be happy in this section?

The mansions always look so much nicer to me? My husband likes the idea of the rustic look of the rooms, but are they really dark? Also have all the buildings now finished with rehab? If we do stay in this section, what buildings do you recommend? We would really like to be near a quiet pool, on a first floor and have a nice view, NO PARKING LOT!!

Help!

Thanks,
Brando

We've stayed in both AB and Mansion sections a number of times. My DD 10 prefers the AB section, but we've always been fortunate to get AB 14, 15, or 18 and those are located near the main pool and food court -- big plusses to her. I find that they both have their own plusses. Mansions have more manicured lawns and gardens while the AB seems less "planned." I love them both though. To me, the AB seemed a bit darker and cooler (temp-wise) compared to the Mansions.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay in either section again. Not sure that I'd bother requesting one over the other either. Were I you, I'd go ahead and try the AB section and I think you'll be happy. It will sort of be like staying at a different resort.

Enjoy.

I think building 18 looks like a perfect spot! No parking lot views, near a quiet pool, laundry and still close to the main building...

Anyone out there stay in building 18 and have any comments?

Also, what changed in the rehab of the AB section?

Thanks!!!

and we like them both, I would probably request AB next time, again. We stayed in building 16, first floor corner room facing the pool. It was great. The pool was right there but we could hardly see for the lush landscape. Was perfect for the quick dip or quiet swims. We had bridges and bogs by our room and we felt like we were in the middle of no where. No one walked past our room so the "porch" was all ours. It was only a couple minute walk to food court and main pool which was great. We did not want to be in the building by the food court because the pizza guy was always buzzing in and out. I would pick any of the rooms facing this pool area again in a heartbeat.....I think 18 is one of them.

ps We always got the bus in front of main building and always got a seat no problem.

We loved the AB area, I always felt the mansions seemed so far away.

i stayed in the mansions and loved them, i thought they were nicer looking (on the outside) and some of them are pretty close to everything you need.

IMHO I liked the mansions better and they were not far away, of course I stay in Arcadian House which is right across from Old Man island and then the main building is behind that over the bridge, also we had a bus stop right near us even closer than ole man island was... I know the Arcadian had just been refurbished and was really nice, Big Armoir, in dark wood with a 27 in TV in it, plus 4 big drawers, a cabinet that hid the fridge and the double pedestal sinks.. Plus a curtain that let you divide the bathroom away from the beds, was useful in the morning I was always up at 6 am getting ready and I let my family sleep until 7 or 7:30

We have stayed in the Mansion area and loved it. We were in Oak Manor and we had a private pool right next to our building, a bus stop very close and the main building was right across the bridge. Very convenient. I think we would also enjoy the AB section, just prefer the mansion section. One thing the mansions do have that the AB section doesn't is each building does have an elevator. That is a big plus for us because my wife has a bad hip and stairs aren't very good for her, even if it is just one flight and they can't always guarantee a ground floor room.

Thanks for the info on the elevators! :flower:
