All you POR lovers out there I want to hear your input. What's the best kept secret there. Which building in magnolia terrace is you favorite and why? And do you have a room picture you could share? I think personal pics are much more representative. Tell me we have made an excellent resort choice for our family get together. :)

Well I am a POR lover, even though I don't have pictures to post and have only stayed in the AB section not magnolia terrace, I can still tell you why my family loves POR. We love the peacefulness, the Tom Sawyer-ish laid back Southern charm. It's wonderful to come back to after a hectic day at the parks. We love breakfasts at Boatwrights (dinner was just ok). The blue print omlette and the Sweet Potato Pancakes are fabulous. The boat to DTD is a great relaxing benefit of this resort as well. This is about the only place where you can do something that causes big dramatic arguements elsewhere... you CAN pool hop. Guests at POR can use the pools at POR and POFQ and vice versa. At POR there are several quiet pools and the main pool at Ole Man Island. Not to be missed at POR is Bob Jackson the piano man in the River Roost Lounge...he is a HOOT. Fun for all ages, it doesn't even feel like a "bar" atmosphere. Things available that we didnt' take advantage of were bike, surrey bike and boat rental and horse drawn carriage rides.

We really enjoyed our stay at POR..... we liked the grounds, the boat to DTD, the pool etc.

We stayed in Oak Manor. Although our room and view were lovely, I would not recommend this bldg - Magnolia Terrace is a better choice.
Here is our view....

We have stayed at POFQ as well... and would stay at either in a heartbeat... but the next time, I hope to get an AB room (I requested one this trip but the only one available was very far away from the pool).

Thanks for the input, Magnolia Terrace happens to be the building we requested so I hope that works out. I have seen a lot of posts about AB and people seem to like it. It does not appeal to me as much and I was wondering why so many seem to like it.

Another vote for Magnolia Terrace. Stayed there in Dec. and loved it. There are some pictures on my link Chirstmas at POR.

I love POR! I have always stayed at the mansions. They just appeal to me more than the rustic AB look. I have stayed in Magnolia Terrace( my favorite) and Acadian House.

the best kept secrets are

Boatwrights for breakfast. (it's cheaper than eating ala carte in the foodcourt) and the food is great! (the omelets...yummy!)

Bob Jackson, the piano man, Wed-Sunday in the river roost lounge. GO see him. The kids love him. He has everyone sing and he has the kids march around and come up on stage. It's alot of fun. :teeth:

Use a bus stop other than the busy south depot one. It's always the most crowded.

Have a great time!
