POR in January- Romantic Trip for Two

Dropped by to read your TR. Nice job! :thumbsup2

Love that you dressed up for dinner each night. Is that common even for families? Should I bring sundresses and nicer clothes to wear to the restaurants? :confused3

I love your trip report :lovestruc. You two seemed like you had an awesome vacation! I love how you wore dresses to the park. I was thinking of doing that on our disneymoon. I never really cared about my looks on past trips, but I want to look nice for at least some of the pictures on the honeymoon. I am just a little worried that my sundresses will get too torn up/dirty/stained/whatever in the parks. I also need to find some comfy shoes that actually go with dresses (I usually just wear tennis shoes).

I am surprised by how warm you said it was on your trip! I went once in February and it was freezing! It did seem to rain a lot on your trip, though. I hate being cold and wet (I am from Seattle, though. I don't mind the rain if it isn't too cold ).

I LOVE wearing dresses at Disney.. fewer items to pack and its easy to throw a cardigan over the dress to make it warmer when needed. I packed a few t-shirt material dresses and also one that is def. not wash/wear.. but that was for our ultra-romantic California Grille dinner. And I work all day on my feet and can totally understand the needing comfy shoes at Disney... I have several pairs of flats that work well with dresses, I also have one pair of heels that are actually comfy!! :scared1: (shocking I know!) I also occasionally wore flipflops but they aren't comfy for long days in the park.. I would toss a pair in my backpack when needed for the really rainy days.. if its pouring I hated soaking my sneakers so I would just toss on a pair of flipflops..

Have fun on your trip!!!

It is def. not common for families! No worries there- almost everyone wore the same clothing they had on at the parks to dinner. I guess I just like the idea of having a reason to get dressed up- I am a nurse and I wear scrubs everyday... It feels good to dress up sometimes! Having said that there are a few rare places in the park that do require a more dressed up attire... The California Grille is one. The DBF wore the same clothing he wore in the parks out to dinner and the only time he felt like he was a bit under-dressed was the Captain's Grill... but then when he looked around and saw other families and couples in t-shirts and such he felt much better. :lmao:

Hope that answers your question- and enjoy your trip!!!

Hey I've been catching up on your TR! I am up to Day 6 but just so tired after a long day... I will continue tomorrow :goodvibes

Hi! Just read your report and you did an amazing job!!! :cool1:

I have a question though...how were you able to post pictures side by side like that?!?! I'm always trying to do it and it never works!! What's your secret?!?

Also, you took some AMAZING pictures! I think I saw you mention it already, but what kind of camera is it??

You two are too cute for words! Your TR makes me want to go on a trip alone with dh SO bad! I love that picture of the castle with the sky all red. Gorgeous!

Awww- I am so glad you are enjoying it! I LOVED checking out TRs before my trip and getting ideas... Its so exciting!! My DBF used to make fun of me because everytime I went on the computer it was to check in with my fellow Dis-ers!

I use photobucket.com to post/edit my photos. I was having a problem with my pictures being too large in my posts (as you can see from the first few posts).. So I hit "resize" while in photobucket and made them small enough to fit a few side by side... I think I used their preset size 160x240...Then when I posted the pictures I did not hit the "enter" button between photos... depending on the styling I would occasionally hit the space bar once or twice.. but it I didn't want spaces between the pictures then I didn't. Hope that helps... I just played with it for a while. :surfweb:
My camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7. Its a 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD. It was a gift from DBF for graduating from nursing school and passing my boards.

Thanks teachermommy78 - while planning the trip I spent a lot of time on Disboards looking for romantic ideas... and I did have some trouble finding exactly what I wanted so I figured why not make my own TR about the romance that can be found at Disney. I must admit with a 10 day trip not every moment was relaxing and romantic :lmao: but we made memories on that trip that had me falling in love all over again.

Just finished! I LOVED your TR. It looks like you had an a-m-a-z-i-n-g time! This got me so excited for my summer trip with my DBF...his first EVER trip to Disney!

Really really great TR :thumbsup2

Hi, I followed you over from my PTR. All I can say right now is WOW, GREAT PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!! I love them.

It looks like your Cali Grille experience was a million times better than ours a few years back.

I love Flame Tree BBQ. After seeing your picture I now want to go there instead of Yak and Yeti but I keep telling myself that I have to expand my horizons!

I was drooling when I saw your crab leg dinner. I had no idea that I could get them anywhere. I have been looking at the menus on all ears and have no clue how I missed the crablegs.

I really enjoyed reading your report. Again, great pictures!!!

Just finished reading your TR and enjoyed it! Looks like you had a great time, good mix of rides and relaxation. :)

I have to wonder what building your room was in in POR to be so far from transportation?

Ohhh- how lucky!! Two trips to Disney in one year!? I am sooo jealous! The DBF and I just bought our first home last summer and then with our recent 10 day trip it doesn't look like we'll be going back to Disney for a while! I hope you are busy enjoying your trip with your mom!!

Hey- while looking for ADRs I decided to stick to the WDW website when looking at menus because I found several of the websites weren't as accurate. When I saw crab legs at Captain's Grille I changed our ADR from Whispering Canyon Cafe to Captains and could not be more happy that I did! I think I was switching ADRs up until three days before our trip because I just couldn't decide- so many great places to choose from!

Our building was Pattiere Place and we were in the farthest corner of that building... There is a giant wooden bridge between POR and POFQ... right by that bridge. We were spoiled by our last trip at CB because we were RIGHT next to the bus stop last time.... In the end the long walk wasn't so bad- probably helped keep the Disney Dining Plan weight off!! ;)

Just read your trip report, and really enjoyed it! We will be staying at POR in May, so this was just one more thing to get me excited :goodvibes

Loved all of your pictures, too. The two of you seemed to have an amazing time. Very cute.

Thanks jstack!

Hi! I just read your entire trip report. It was GREAT! I love how romantic your trip was. I loved how you spoke about falling in love all over again in Disney! We have two small kids and its a very different trip than yours, but we always find our romantic moments too. I am sad your trip report is over!!

I also LOVED your pictures!!!

Thanks for dropping by!! I must admit while at the parks I did catch myself occasionally wishing we had a kid or two just so I could enjoy certain aspects of the magic that can be found at Disney... Then I would SNAP out if it!! At 23, I think I can enjoy the romance part of Disney a while longer then enjoy all Disney has to offer for families..

That is- unless anyone is renting kids for the day!

Really want to switch ADRs for crab legs now! Was is a one credit?

Ohhh Yay- an fellow ADR switcher!!! The crab legs were at Captain's Grill at the Yacht Club Resort- and they were delicious!

We took a short bus ride from Downtown Disney.. I think it went to the Swan/Dolphin first, the next stop was ours!! The place was empty, the staff so lovely, and the food amazing! And then after dinner the Boardwalk is a short (and romantic) walk away!! Totally recommend it!

Thank you for sharing. I love your viking helmet. I just said to DH I might get that rather than ears for this trip. Don't know why, just feel the need to one :)

PS - I think it's really cool too that you wore skirts/frocks to the parks. I'm wondering if there will be time when I could do that too.

Glad you liked the viking hat! I think we found it in Norway.. This was after a few drinks with dinner so I was feeling a bit goofy!! I found it and thought it was so much fun!

I totally love wearing dresses at Disney- lots more fun and comfy!! I didn't have any problems with rides or elsewhere- our next trip I want to go when it's a bit warmer so I can wear dresses every day!!

i've bee following your TR. (guilty lurker) i also work at a hospital in ct... (southwestern ct)! isnt this weather crazy!>?!??!

anyway that dinner you had at the turf looks amazing!!! was that burger looking meal good? (its probably easier for me to just look at the menu, but i figured i'd ask what and how it was)

oh one more question... what kind of camera do you have? it takes awesome pics.. if you say the Cannon dslr (or whatever its called) i think i'm going to have to purchase it!

I'm guilty of lurking too :rolleyes1 But I have to jump in - I have a Canon Rebel xsi, and I love it. It takes amazing pictures, very user friendly, and you can get it at a decent price point for a dslr(I just checked on Amazon and found it listed for $479 - with the 18-55mm kit lens).
