A few questions that I need somehelp with:

We are arriving this Saturday for 7 nights - but opted to not pay the addl. dollars for a Water View room.

Was this a mistake on my part and I will end up looking at a parking lot for a week or are there non water view rooms with a good view?

Is it worth making a call prior to request one building over another?

Can anyone suggest building numbers, floors, room numbers etc...that I can request?

Do I call the resort direct or call back thru the reservation number?

Thanks for your help!

okay here is a map

http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/PortOrleansMap.pdf

see there is a bunch of garden area -

just ask for building 2, 5, or 6 - no parking lot views at all in these building.

that say the others don't have that much of a parking lot view. Disney does try to hide the parking lot with bushes and shurbs.

as who to call - right now you call the place where you made the reservations. closer to your time 3days before your arrival - you can fax it.

Building 5 is the best. The pool will be just on the other side of your building, the food court is a two minute walk, add 30 seconds to get to the bus stop. The boat to DTD is about a minute and a half walk. This spot is great- building 5 standard view.

It was a great location! The only thing that I had a problem with was the Resort music was kind of loud the first few nights...I think that I just got used to it though! ;) It was a 1 minute walk to the pool and food court...maybe 3 minute walk to the front of the resort to catch a bus.

I had requested a ground floor room in Building 5, but the day we checked in the resort was fully booked so, none of our requests were granted...no big deal though!

Make sure you walk over to POR--it's about a 15 minute walk--very nice! Also, take the riverboat to DTD--it's nice too!

Have fun on your trip!

I don't think view matters at mods and values. If there's no balcony I'm not spending time there anyway, KWIM? There are walkways outside the doors, so I don't normally keep the curtains wide open. I don't like people walking by and looking in. ;)

Whenever we stay at a resort, I make a point to take some time and just wander around checking out what I think are "good" and "bad" areas.

When were at POFQ, I have to say that I didn't find one single area I would not want to stay in. Even the rooms facing the parking lots are shielded by landscaping.

The only building that may have a "parking lot issue" would be #7 because I noticed a lot of the buses just sitting out there idling early in the mornings. I probably wouldn't notice it, but someone sensitive to noise might.

We were in a courtyard facing room in bldg. 2 and loved the location.

We have only stayed at POR FQ once and our room was on the back side of bldg 1, which I thought would be terrible. It was a little further to walk than from some of the other bldgs, but the resort is reasonably small, so it's not really "far" at all. It was very quiet and peaceful which worked out perfectly for us - we barely noticed the parking lot view!!

I do not think that not paying for a water view room is a mistake. As others have said, it is not as if you had a private balcony to sit on overlooking the water, they are public walkways.
We stayed in building 5 and we loved it. It was close to the pool, Food Court and Bus Stop. I would go back in a heartbeat.
I think you will love POFQ. Have a great trip

4 or 5 this past summer to ensure we were close to the bus stop. (Young kids that are awfully tired at the end of the day.) We ended up in Bldg 4 on the parking lot side. The landscaping blocked the parking lot out so no problems there. From the walkway you could see the MK and Epcot fireworks too.

JMHO... but you go to disney to GO TO DISNEY... not to sit in your hotel room staring out the window! So who cares about the view! :rotfl:
