Hi all,

I just tentatively booked a room in POR for our honeymoon of Oct 3 to Oct 13.... Is this a good place for a honeymoon? We won't be staying in our room (I presume!) for long during our stay, so that's not really of importance.
We'd like to have a romantic spot, where we can walk at night and unwind from our day. Is this the place?? I heard Poly was quite the place too...but it's quite the price as well!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Also, if you have ideas as to how we could make it extra special...hehe. We'll book a carriage ride for sure and probably go for breakfast with Cinderella at the Castle :-)

Thanks!!

Chantal

We stayed at Riverside for our honeymoon. It is very nice. We really liked the relaxing boat ride from POR to DD.

Thanks for the info - more would be "hugely" welcomed ;)

Cheers!

I'm going to vote POFQ...it's a much smaller resort with lots of quiet spots. There is a path that leads to POR...and the boat does take you from POFQ to DTD. As you can see...I am partial to POFQ...but we do walk the path to riverside while there. And POFQ offers carriage rides in the evening(not sure about POR) Seems busier to me at POR. You'll enjoy either one though.

We stayed there (POR) for our honeymoon in 2004 and had a wonderful time. Like you, we spent most days away from the resort, but did enjoy the nighttime walks. The landscaping there is so beautiful, and since POR is a little bigger than POFQ you seem to get more of that "just the two of us" feeling. Make sure to note your requests on your ressie (king bed, mansions/bayou depending on your preference) and that it's your honeymoon. WDW is generally very generous with meeting the requests of honeymooners. I also suggest wearing the wedding mouse ears and/or pins. Even if you don't get any of the perks from them (free desserts, pictures, etc) you'll definitely get lots of congratulations!

Have fun!!!

Oh, so we can get pins too??? We were thinking about getting the hats for the first couple of days... i don't quite see myself wearing it EVERY day.

I guess we'll have to get those pins :-)

And for the request...looks like I'll be asking for king bed, corner room, second floor and... the building request is still unknown!! I'm trying to figure it out by all the feedback we're getting on here!

Also... I thought the carriage rides were at POR as well.... too bad! It's hard to imagine how far it is between them, so I guess you have to go once and see it for yourself!

We stayed at POR for our Honeymoon last month and thought it was fantastic! No matter what you decide I am sure you will have a great time! Congratulations! :flower:

I've only stayed at POR but I did visit POFQ and of the two POR seemed to be better themed for romance. It is more spread out but that also makes it feel more private. We have only stayed in AB section because I go with my parents and my two kids, but a room in a Southern Style mansion on a lazy river located on beautiful grounds seems like a wonderful place to honeymoon. You also have the advantage of a sit down restaurant at POR, Boatwrights. The dinner we had there was just ok, but the breakfasts are FABULOUS. Both resorts have carriage rides and the boat to DTD, you can also rent a boat, bikes, or a surrey bike at POR. To me, POFQ seems like a very nice place as well, it just has more of a Mardi Gras theme where I would think PORs country charm and laid back Tom Sawyer-ish feel in the AB section or the grace and elegence of a mansion room would be more honeymoon like. Hope you have a wonderful magical time whatever you may choose (sending some pixie dust your way) :wizard:

POFQ!!!!!! We were just there and it was so romantic! All the landscaping was so lush and we hardly ever ran into anyone until we hit the food court or busses. Everything is so close together yet it is secluded. The busses stop there first. POR is so spread out that I would hate to be on a far end away from everything. You can get the privacy and convienece at POFQ!!! And we had a corner room with a river view and king bed...most romantic stay we've had at WDW!

I must vote for POFQ. We stayed there during our Honeymoon and it was amazing. The parks don't stay open as late during October so you will have some time at night to just enjoy yourself. My husband and I would walk around the grounds or sit by the river. There are lots of little "quite" areas at night that you can enjoy. It's a small resort but you wouldn't know it because you feel so secluded. We also had a corner room with a river view and a king bed. DOn't forget to tell EVERYONE (including the CMs when you book) that this is your honeymoon. We got tons of treats during our honeymoon. Enjoy!!!

I stayed there 13 years ago on my honeymoon in March. That is when they were considered sperate resorts. We had an awesome time. POFQ is so romantic. We loved it. We rode bikes to POR and it seemed very spread out. POFQ is really a pretty place and it is perfect for a honeymoon. Even though we didn't do a lot of swimming, the pool is nice and the hot tub is great. Not sure if they still have live entertainment but we would sit and watch the show and have some cocktails. We loved it.

However, I don't think you could go wrong with either. From the people I know that stayed at POR - they loved it. But keep in mind it's a lot bigger then POFQ. I think POFQ is Disney's smallest resort.
