POR for Honeymoon

DF and I have booked POR for our honeymoon. We have never been to Disney, so have no clue what to expect. We decided on this resort because we are young (19 and 21) and our budget was good sized, but we wanted to be able to include the Deluxe DP, carriage ride, Cirque admission, ect... So we figured on a moderate hotel. I was wondering how Romantic you would say this resort is?? We booked a mansion (Parterre Place) and requested a riverfront king room. I (being a perfectionist) also have plans to bring small things from home to make the room a little more romantic since it is our honeymoon (candle's, ect...) Any other suggestions or comments would be MUCH appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

POR is the most romatic of the Moderates. with POFQ a close second. Be advised that both the building choice Paterre Place, and the River front room are requests only and may or may not be granted. King yes, Waterview yes but water view can be anything wet, like a pool etc.
but it is romantic to walk around at night and the carriage rides are great, make a reservation if you have not yet. and the boat to DDT at night can be romantic especially if you have moonlight.
The lounges at both POR and POFQ are great to hang out and listen to music.
I think you will be very pleased with POR, though I hope you have your own car since there are issues with the busses there being very busy.
You say you have not been to Disney. Have you made your ADRs for dining? you need them if you want to be sure of eating at Table service places. Do you know about EMH hours and using Fast passes?
Be sure you learn about all this stuff before you go, I think you will have a great time.

We also know about FastPasses and EMH's. I've been doing research like CRAZY for a LONGGGGGG time!!!!

Also, we are not planning on renting a car. We are flying from South Carolina and won't have transp other than DT. DF says it's our honeymoon and if we get stuck on a bus, oh well -- at least we're together stuck on a bus!! It will be alright, I hope. Maybe since it is January it won't be too bad!!

It's been a bazillion (OK, 17) years since I was at Disney, and this topic has been debated here before.

But please think twice about bringing candles into a hotel room. All of Disney just oozes atmosphere. But candles pose a serious safety risk to thousands of people.

hey there I like yourself am young-ish 22 and so is DBF. We are going in a week and a half for the first time together (been without each other) to celebrate our 7 anniversary; that being said I wanted this trip to be very romantic. We like you decide on POR just because it looks so beautiful. We are hoping our room request is granted for the manison side. We made our AR for our carriage ride which afterwards we plan to eat at Boatwrights then take the boat to DTD. As a gift to DBF I booked us the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour because he really enjoyed trains as a child. Also I see you have an ADR for Coral Reef, I am not sure if at the time you go they will still be doing this but if you contact Debbi you can get a diver to hold a sign with a message or a personalised menu made for free. You will have to call Debbi to set all this up, to find out more about it look through the threads on the restaunt board. I am doing the personalised menu, it was easy to set up and Debbi was so helpful and nice. Lastly me and DBF plan on getting a caricature at either MK or MGM we thought that would be a great keepsake. Good luck I hope you have a great trip!

Congrats to you and your husband-to-be.

POR truly is a beautiful, laid back resort, and is the moderate that I would pick for a romantic time. It's a huge resort, but the grounds are beautifully landscaped and the place is full of peaceful and quiet spaces.

The boat ride is fun, especially at night. We also really enjoyed strolling the grounds and having a drink by the pool.

Since you don't have a car, you may want to consider taking a cab a few times when trying to make it on time for dinner reservations. It might cost you 15 bucks, but worth it not to stress about getting somewhere on time. Taking the bus between resorts can take an hour or more because you have to transfer.
