POR - Disney’s Fleabag Motel

First world problems..........Cant folks just go enjoy a vacation without complaining....i mean really. WDW is great, Sure.. DLR is better IMHO, but both get an A+!
Sorry, not allowed to say that or we are kool aid drinkers......
If you went to an expensive restaurant, and received a flat out cold meal, would you just shrug your shoulders and chalk it up to “first world problems”?

We're staying at POR in October and now I'm worried too. :(
Stayed at POR Magnolia Bend in Feb 2018 and the room was fabulous. I don't recall any issues whatsoever. I know... just another anecdotal testimony FWIW.... just like all the others.

I enjoyed my partially thawed crepes at that Belle's castle restaurant place.
Ditto: we actually had frozen raw hash brown potatoes in a casserole at Crystal Palace once, which is crazy to me because raw potatos are actually poisonous. (Yes, I did complain; they didn't do anything about it).

I agree with OP, our stay at POR is what convinced me I just can't do moderates. Of course I still had a good vacation (hard to be unhappy at disney world), but the room quality was really substandard given the price. We paid just shy of $400 a night versus $600 at a deluxe for the dates we were there, and a deluxe feels 10 times nicer for a 150% surcharge.

Raw potatoes are poisonous??!!

I hope this gets addressed soon, because POR is our favorite resort.
We've had a 4 different rooms in Magnolia bend since 2014 and they have always been wonderful! We are staying at CBR because of the Skyliner this year and we are all a little sad we won't be at POR again. We thought it was absolutely beautiful inside the rooms and out. The only complaint we had was the last time we were there they seemed to clean the main pool for a really long time in the morning.

When our son was little, we always stayed in a room at a deluxe. Now that he’s an adult, we’ve been staying in DVC units for the extra space. DH had been anti-moderate resort for a while—-he didn’t like his stay at CSR and doesn’t like rooms with entrances to outside hallways—-but was mellowing in his old age and saying that maybe getting two rooms at POR wouldn’t be bad. Housekeeping issues like this make me think twice about giving that plan a try. It’s a shame that such a pretty resort is not up to cleanliness standards. Does anyone have a sense that Mousekeeping is understaffed there? I wonder if they let some people go after allowing guests to decline the service.

We stayed there about a year ago, and it was my least favorite resort I've stayed at. I've also stayed at CBR, POFQ, ASM, PoP, Poly, Contemporary.

Raw potatoes are poisonous??!!
I had to look this up. Who knew?

"That’s because raw potatoes contain a toxic compound called solanine, which could make you very sick.
Most potatoes don’t have enough solanine to kill a human, but green potatoes or any that are starting to sprout have high solanine content, which can cause symptoms including stomach pain, headache, and paralysis. You should avoid green potatoes even when they’re cooked for this reason. At the very least, consuming raw potatoes causes severe gas and bloating — and they don’t even taste good." - from cheatsheet.com

I had forgotten about "green" potatoes not being good for you but I beg to differ with the source! I loved eating them as a kid. Seriously, it would take so much of that stuff to actually do harm that it's not worth worrying about. It's rare that I can say I've never seen a particular subject discussed on the dis- but the dangers of eating raw potatoes is a new one. lol How we got from the subject of room cleanliness to deadly raw potatoes is a mystery.

Without reading all 6 pages has anyone stayed within the last 2 weeks and had problems? I will be there in 6 days for a special little girl birthday, staying in the room with the trundle. I don't want it to be something that will spoil my excitement for her, she probably wouldn't even notice but if the bathroom is filthy I will be upset.

Looks like those rooms are in desperate need of being redone.

Any resort can and has had housekeeping problems. If the room is not up to your standards, go to the front desk and complain. If you call, your call goes to a call center and then they have to pass the issue on to the resort, which all takes time. Going back to the front desk is a hassle, but the best way to handle anything that is wrong.

We are at POR now in a newly renovated room. It’s very clean, fresh, and comfortable. We’ve have interactions with many cast members and all positive. Housekeeping has been prompt and thorough. Common areas are also well maintained. Absolutely no complaints.

This is totally unacceptable - both the dirty parts and the need of refurb - I agree the refurb shouldn't have been let go that long. Not for the prices. Sad because I've stayed there 3x and love the resort. It's been awhile though.. a long while. I'll be waiting awhile before I ever go back.

Good to know they are finishing up the refurb of the rooms. Looks like the mansion rooms are the last ones being done.
