POR - Disney’s Fleabag Motel

Wow. We're staying there in November and will be taking a really close look at the condition/cleanliness of the room. I hope I don't have to complain but I absolutely will - the more people who report these issues the better for us all (I hope).

So interesting. We have considered staying there but havent yet. We have stayed CBR 3 times. This last time (end of july/beginning of august) we were on a CBR bus and a woman across from me was talking on the phone to her mother. They were frequent visitors and had just come from staying at POR for a few nights for the first time. She said that she learned it was not for her and that the room looked like one that should be out of rotation...a hole in the wall, a broken light, and other various issues. I didnt think a ton of it at the time but interesting to think back on in light of this post.

I only stayed at POR one time, but of all the places I've stayed, this is the only one that I won't repeat. It just wasn't a great experience for me. You can see from my signature that I have stayed Value, Mod, Deluxe and Villas. So, it's not that. I just never got the sense that anyone cared what my experience was.

That's kind of shocking... I've never been to POR, but when I went to French Quarter a few months ago it was an incredible experience. They're sister resorts and both are very expensive. That kind of stuff isn't acceptable for $300 a night.

Even when I stayed at All-Star Sports last year, while very outdated and in desperate need of a refurb (that's coming), it was still clean and comfortable.

You’re right. POFQ has always been wonderful. We haven’t ever had an issue there.

POR. Especially Alligator Bayou. Along with POFQ. Is imho 2 of WDW best resorts. If we stay moderate that’s where we stay. To us, They are just perfect. No issues here. Got to be honest though. I don’t go around looking for things that may need some tlc. Just don’t see the need. All we do is the bed bug check. At any hotel. After that it is all fun. It’s vacation.

It makes me wonder if this is a cause/effect of Housekeeping being declined at a resort that sees a lot of traffic. Don't get me wrong, it's completely unacceptable the way the toilet looked. It just makes me wonder....
Good question

Ive made this argument here before too. Totally plausible to think these rooms can go 7+ Days without service which makes them even harder to clean ahead of the next guest.

The only time we’ve ever voiced a complaint about a room was at POR. Our room in the mansions was just gross. We moved to AB no problem but very much felt like unclean rooms weren’t a shock to those at the front desk.

I wonder this too. The general maintenance can't be blamed on this, but staining in the toilet and missed cob webs could.

It embarrasses me that Disney thinks it’s acceptable to put paying guests of any level in a room that’s in serious need of refurb or is dirty to the point that its obvious it hasn’t been cleaned properly multiple times over. That’s not the Disney quality we keep coming back for.

OP dont come to my house.. you would prolly condem it. I dont see much issue. They are due for renovations soon. All this damnage looks like luggage hitting the walls. Maybe the only this I have issue is the rust stains in the toilet thats an ez fix.

My house isn’t spotless all the time, but I’m not charging $300 a night for people to vacation here. When I do have company I give it a very thorough cleaning.

POR has been going thru a refurbishment. You can go to portorleans.org to see the progress on which buildings are completed and being worked on. It’s under News & FAQs then Scheduled Maintenance & Refurbishment Work. I try to do a bit of research before booking and requesting rooms so I don’t end up rooms that are dated.
I stayed at POFQ over the summer and housekeeping was excellent! I’m staying at POR in September and I’m hoping it’ll be the same. I find it’s a hit or miss at all Disney resorts.
I had a problem last September at POP Century, housekeeping decided to skip me that day. We called and requested for them to come before we left for Magic Kingdom After Hours. We came back at 2am & our room still wasn’t clean...which is a nightmare for anyone who experiences something like this. Mind you my husband had stripped the sheets of the bed earlier that day so they would change them too. I wrote the general manager an email of our experience when I woke up...she called me an hour later bending over backwards. These emails don’t just go to the general managers btw, they go to their bosses and so forth to make sure customer experience up to par. I was told that The housekeeper tried showing her manager a photo of a door w a do not disturb sign on it, which I never put on the door! I was there for 2 weeks and everyday the housekeeper’s manager had to check the room when she was done cleaning it. The general manager was calling me every other day to make sure my stay way going well. My trip way smooth after that.
Maybe this will help a few of you out there...

Dated is one thing, overly worn and dirty is another.

Either way, I’m embarrassed as a Disney fan and someone who raves about WDW that these are the kinds of rooms they feel okay putting guests in. Not up to Disney standards, at least the Disney they should be trying to be.

I agree that dirty is unacceptable. I try to do so as much research to stay in the refurbished rooms to avoid the dirty carpet, broken furniture, moldy smelling rooms, etc. I even go as far as cleaning with clorox wipes when I get in my room. No hotel room is clean, anywhere.
All the resorts now have the general manager's email address for the guest to contact them if there is a concern. I would never let something like this ruin my trip...contact someone and get it resolved. Disney Guest Services in Disney Springs has also been helpful to me with Resort Rooms & Dining Plans. Everytime I have contacted Disney with a concern, they have stepped up and went over and beyond.
