I am doing the same thing alot of you are on these boards..changing my mind 100 times about my resort choice! (so you are with me, I don't feel so bad!)

I currently have POR AB (family of 5) booked for Oct 1 -10 with an expected AP rate of $100 (hopefully) = $900

I was considering switching to the CR because the AP rate might be around $160 & we may not renew the AP so I'd love to upgrade now. The cost would be $1440.

Tell me to change & why or tell me to stay put! I'd like the convenience of the CR & that price is "good" for a wing room. But I hear the POR is beautiful.
Help.

POR: Much more beautifully themed, recently renovated, less money

CR: Much larger rooms, rediculously convenient!

I think for me it would come down to convenience. But I also have a 4 year old and a 1 year old. So if convenience is important to you then I would say go with the CR.

Our last trip we stayed at POR for 2 days then went on a disney cruise, upon our return we stayed at CR as a surprise. The price difference was about the same as what you are looking at, it was so worth the extra to stay at CR! We were upgraded to a tower room, floor 11 looking out to MK. It was awesome!!!
I wake up frequently at night and would slip out onto the balcony and just look at the MK, softly lit up all night long, then in the morning you can watch all the monorails comming online and the boats going across the bay.

For 5 of you the rooms at CR are so much bigger than PO plus you have the extra day bed, very comfortable. The bathrooms are huge too. And how about the monorail just outside your door! Talk about convient!! The food court is not as good as PO but met our needs just fine. My DH and kids loved the game room.

The beach on the lake, watch the water parade, pool is very nice.
And there is nothing like watching the MK fireworks from your balcony, we were there over halloween and the fireworks were so cool for the halloween parties at the MK..

Now we are big fans of PO, the R and FQ and plan to stay there next month, but if the right price comes along again we would stay at CR.

CR looks like a futuristic prison or office building. It's all grey cement, cold and dreary. It looks very institutional. I wouldnt stay there if it was free. No atmosphere, or actually bad atmosphere. The only good thing about the place would be that it is right next to MK and you can get a view of it from your room. But that's not worth staying in a grey prison looking thing. CR actually reminds me of the apartment buildings they had over in East Berlin before the wall came down.

POR is green, lush, beautiful grounds, dreamy river, with a wonderful southern Lousianna type ambience. No contest.

Whoa, ok should i put you down for a "no" then? :rotfl: :rotfl:

I kind of think of it that way too..very cold looking but the proximity to the MK seems to cancel that out for alot of people. POR looks so lush & beautiful & I am so afraid to choose CR & then kick myself in the morning!

Thanks for the post!!! :teeth:

I am a firm believer that everyone should try each resort once!

We love Dixie Landings (POR). Stayed there countless times. We stayed at CR once. We really liked CR. I thought I would hate it. But it was "Classic Disney". It just felt like Walt! If I were only going to WDW once, I would probably choose CR. You got a good rate, and the above posters covered the reasons why it is a great place to stay (well, almost all the posters :rotfl2: ).

We've stayed at POFQ (very nice) and just got back from staying in the North Wing at the CR. Wow is the CR convenient - every time I walked out of the room to go refill my mug I could see the castle and space mountain. At night we watched the MK fireworks and the water pagent. I have 2 young kids so being able to W*A*L*K to the MK is really great - just really really great. We liked the pool more than we thought we would - was never very crowded. Nice boat over to WL for dinner - monorail to Epcot.

I think it is worth a try for the CR if you have the budget. I got an AP discount similar to yours and I'd stay at the CR again. Rooms are great = loved the big table and sofa and huge closet.

We did the same thing but we changed ressies 4 times. We started out with CSR and the upgraded to WL and then thought we'd split our stay between WL and Poly well we ended up with POR and added the dining option. That may be something you want to look into. We ended up saving $700 by downgrading to mod but our food is now paid for. :wave2:

i know at this point I should step away from the computer! :rotfl:

I am trying to figure out what to do now...(between POR & CR)

1-Book POR for 9 nights in Oct $800 AP rate
No car, plan to be in the parks all day

Book CR for Feb 06 for 6 nights $1200 AP rate (wing room)
Will have a car that trip & spend more time at the resort. Put $$$ deposit down until AP's come out (Maybe Dec?)

OR

2-Book CR for 9 nights in Oct $1350 AP rate
No car so CR is good choice in respect to transport

Book POR for Feb 06 for 6 nights $630 AP rate
Will have car so we can drive to all parks, but coming back to the resort won't be an option because of the crowds. Maybe too cold to swim & take advantage of the nice pool.

Any advice?
