A little history about me....
HUGE WDW Fan ever since I was a kid. I lived for yearly trip my dad took my sister and myself on to WDW. It was usually a 2 or 3 day event at that point; we either stayed off-site or from what I remember, we stayed at French Quarter in 94' or 95'.
As an adult, I'll be going on my fourth trip in 6 years.
I'm really excited about this trip because this is the first time I will be staying officially at a Disney resort (that I can remember). Yes, I stayed at Swan & Dolphin in 2011 but that is an SPG Property and not really...technically... Disney. Atleast, I didn't feel the "magic" while there. Others may differ.
So I decided recently I needed to get outta the city and do a vaca. My mom recently moved to Florida and we were able to book a really great price for a 6 day, 5 night stay with 4 day MYW parkhopper + water park passes. I know it will probably be interesting being that I'm 26 and my mom is in her mid-sixties, but she's super active and hasn't been since the early 90s. I'm excited to show her my love for Disney -- and also, of course, go again to the world.
It's crazy but every time I have an opportunity to go on vacation, Disney is really the only thing I wanna do.
We plan to do WDW leisurely. I've done it in mad dashes before and always ended up exhausted. I feel like we have enough time there, we will be able to see everything but also take our time doing it.
It was a tough decision between POR and CBR, but reviews seemed skewed positively towards POR. Also as you may or may not have guessed, Splash Mountain is one of my top favorite rides -- I love the theming -- and I hear POR is like the "Splash Mountain" resort in regards to the Old South motif. We booked river-view rooms, but I'm not sure if those are Magnolia Mend or Alligator Bayou...I guess we will find out when I get there.
Does anyone have any suggestions for anything great to do, as an adult, with your mother (who is also an adult)??
I hope it's not super weird to be 26 and going to WDW with your mom, but I think it will be a great opportunity for us to spend some time together and get to know each other in a Disney-fied way.
Best,
Ethan
