I don't understand why parent's would give their children made up names or alternative spellings to traditional names? My niece has an 'original' name and always has to repeat hersef and spell it out![]()
Oooh yes, this one. When they register their children at school and look at me like I'm dumb because I didn't guess that their child's name has an apostrophe in it. Like '"Ree'gun" instead of Regan (that one is made up but is VERY similar to a child we had register at our school)
I think it can be nice.I don't understand why parent's would give their children made up names or alternative spellings to traditional names? My niece has an 'original' name and always has to repeat hersef and spell it out![]()
I can't agree with this! I LOVE Krispy Kreme donuts - so much that I never go to Bluewater anymore as I can't resist the huge Krispy Kreme shop![]()
For me there are quite a few, including:
Lord of the Rings
Twilight
I'm a "Celebrity"
oh and Ironing.![]()
ive thought of another one
Debt and/or Credit !! i fail to understand why people would willingly borrow money they havnt got to pay for things they dont need![]()
That is another thing I don't "get". The need for everyone to own their own home, people think it is odd if it is not what you are aiming for in life. I would hate to feel tied down to a building.![]()

I don't mean everyone, people who get a mortgage they can easily afford however I think some people would be much happier without having a mortgage over their heads, however it is the "thing to do" owning your own home even if it does cause massive stress paying it off.
I rent my shop premises, begrudge every penny I pay. Now paid for it at least twice over after 20 years.
House, after 20 years its just about paid for. Cost £40k(+interest) worth about 150k (was 200k) to rent, they are about £450-500/month.
So I am the opposite on that one, don't get why people rent. DMIL has rented same house for past 40+ years, dread to think how much she has paid.
Here are a few of mine
Crocs (ugly plastic things)
Pandora Bracelets (ducks for cover)
TV Soaps
Farmville etc on Facebook
Ricky Gervais (he's about as funny as piles)
X Factor/Britains Got Talent
BTW, great thread![]()
I do understand this, and on some levels I do agree with you, but can see both sides. It does seem to be a British obession though, in other European countries nobody owns the houses they live in.
