Hi everyone, I'm Mark and new the DIS boards here and I hope this is the right place to do this in. I'm going to Disney World in less than a week, leaving bright and early on friday morning. So here's the deal I'm planning on asking my girlfriend to marry me while we are down in WDW, cept I'm having troubles kind of thinking of ideas. My girlfriend loves Cinderella and I was originally trying to think of a way to get that into it. My friend who is going down with us tried getting me reservations at Cinderella's Royal Table, however we failed miserably. So I figured I'd come here ask you fine folks, if you had any ideas. I'm open to anything at this point, I've always told her that I want to make it special and frankly there is no where more special than WDW.

:welcome: to the DIS! There's a wishing well on the right side of Cinderella Castle (if you're looking at it from Main St. There usually aren't a lot of people around. I always that was would be a nice spot to propose if you want something quiet and sweet.

Thanks for the welcome, yeah I'm not sure exactly what I'm gonna go for yet but I will definitley think about the idea Nikki and I will look at the other topic disprincess.

(apparently it won't let me quote or put links till I get to 10 messages lol)

"go to mouseweddings to look for some more ideas on the home page. Good luck!"

Thanks IndyBride I'll give it a look over.

"Just before the fireworks would be pretty special."

Yeah Chilly at this point I'm thinking at Cinderella's castle at some point during the day or before the fireworks or something.

My DF proposed at the wishing well next to Cinderella's castle. He told me to close my eyes and make a wish and when I opened them he had taken out the ring! I think he wanted to wait til the fireworks but couldn't hold out long enough haha! We watched the fireworks from the beach at the Poly one night too and that was romantic and a nice quiet location.

:rotfl: Silly DFs! My DF couldn't wait either!! He planned to propose at MK...but we landed in Tampa and went to a hockey game and he popped at the game...lol we were only in Florida for like 2 hours and he was already too anxious to wait!!:hyper: :rotfl:

yeah at this point we're 4 days away from going down and I've had the ring for like a week or two now and I really want to do it, just wanna get down there and ask.

So I should have enough posts now, for those who are interested.

There's the ring. She knows what kind it is, seeing she picked it. Mostly for the fact that we had a talk about it and I wanted it to be a ring I knew she would love.

 STUNNING!!! I'm actually glad we're not the only ones who "discussed" the ring beforehand... I mean, I knew it was coming, but I didn't know when (and then he fed me all this garbage about it being held up in the shop and about how he convinced the jeweler to overnight it to our disney hotel room :rotfl: I can't believe I fell for it!) I digress, that ring totally gorgeous - she's going to love it! ::yes:: Have you decided how you're going to do it yet?

Yeah she was telling me "at least I didn't pick out the 9000 dollar one." lol. But thats funny with yours, the only difference with us, is that she knows I have it. Yeah I know not much of a surprise but she doesn't know when or how.

As for deciding how, I really really wanted to incorporate cinderella somehow, but as I said before with her royal table so hard to get into that was off the list. At this point I think it's gonna be in front of the castle or near it some how, be it before fireworks, during fireworks or during the day, I'm still looking for ideas though to incorporate Cinderella. Unfortunately for us she and her friend we're going down with is doing a conference for the first half of it almost, so we're going the 20th and I won't be able to do it till like the 25-26th.

I know at some of the restaurants they'll do a special proposal cinderella slipper dessert -- and the ring goes on it...

We have everything planned out at this point so let's see..we only have a few places we actually have reservations for I know we're doing House of Blues, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Rose and Crown Pub, Jellyrolls, Hollywood and Vine, Chef Mickey's and 100 Park Fare, but that one is the very last day.

:confused3 Just a thought. ...I do know that many restaurants will do this, not sure who's on the list though -- wish someone would chime in that knows more than me!! :wizard:

Oh yeah and I thank you for the suggestion and help. Kinda wish the topic would be a little more active and have some input, I think everyone is over at the other engagement topic lol.

The Cinderella Slipper thing is at CRT so if you couldn't get a reservation then you won't be able to do that I don't think.

If you want to incorporate Cinderella how about just popping the question in the park in front of Cinderella while she is getting her photo taken?

The ring is really lovely!

Thanks...yeah I kinda figured the slipper would only be CRT. The picture thing sounds cool. The only unfortunate thing is that I can't seem to find times to when she's at Mickey's Toon Town. Everything I read says it's occasional that she pops up. I know last time we were there she and the other princesses popped up randomly after wishes when we were getting our photos printed out. I'm guessing that would be something I'd talk to a CM about.

I wish I had more help to offer. I would definitely see about speaking to a CM or the concierge at your hotel. They would probably be a little more well versed in handling a Disney proposal. I watched this proposal on youtube, which I would post here, but the board won't let me as I don't have enough posts yet. To view it yourself, go to youtube, and search under "Ultimate Disney proposal" and it should be the first one that pops up. Once you see it, you can tell that clearly the CMs were involved with what was going on to orchestrate it. I think they'd be happy to help if you explained what you were attempting to do. I've also read over on the Year of a Million Dreams thread that little girls would mention to CMs how Cinderella was their favorite character but they couldn't find her, and the CMs would whisk the family away to a private area for a meet and greet. It leads me to believe the CMs would be MORE than happy to help out if you contacted them.
