Hi gang,
Some MrFDNY family history. I was talking to my mom today, anyway she was telling me she got in touch with my grandfathers(this is my mothers father ) sisters and her kids, whom she lost contact with over 20 years ago. Anyway check this out, they all live in italy, they own and run an resort villa/ hotel/ bed in breakfast in the mountains in sicily. From what my mom was saying its like a 15 story super star delux resort that my family owns. This is good, i plan to talk to them soon and must get them to sell, sell thier resort in italy and open one up in disney.
Actually they are e-mailing my mom the address of the resort, which has pictures of all the staff that work there, which are all related to me somehow. My mom is thinking about a trip up there nov 2008, not sure about me yet.
So i feel like a pin cushion!! Today was my annunal physical at FDNY head quaters. Every year we have to go and take a full medical and physical exam, this consist of, chest x-rays, EkG'S, eye, ear and lung testing, a blood test, shots for T.b, hepatitis, the flu, of course drug testing( should have never smoked all that crack last night
) A few other medical exams and then its time for the physical exam. It consist of bench pressing a certain amount of weight, a few other strenght testing and then its time for the stair master. This is no regualr group of stairs, its the staircase to hell.
SO what they do is, first they put you on a heart moniter, then they put a 60 pound vest on you and put you on this stair master, which is like a tred mill, but in stead of flat surface its a stair case. I would like you all to know that i did 17 flights of stairs with a 60 pound vest on in just under 3 minutes. While this sounds good and i passed the test with flying colors, in 1998 i did 28 flights of steps in 3 minutes flat.I got off the machine, short of breath and both my legs were killing me, i quickly realized something. I'm no longer 21, i'm getting old. Well all went well and i passed every test they threw at me. So it's back to the fire house tomorrow and to report that i passed my 500,000 mile inspection!! Something tell me my legs will be very sore in the a.m. tomorrow.
