Thanks for the well wishes everyone, i got a question for you mommies out there:

Gabriel woke up from his nap yesterday with his eye SEALED shut with crust (gross i know) but it was a dry crust, not like a wet eye-boogies (soooorrry to gross you out!!) Then his eye was lazy all day and into today. HOEWEVER he was and is still acting totally normal right up until bed time tonite?? any ideas on what it could be?? his eye ball itself is not red or anything like that.

Anyone know the legend of the pickle ornament?? and does anyone do it on their tree??? thanks!!!

The Christmas Pickle is an American tradition related to the Christmas tree. In this tradition, a family decorates its Christmas tree with ornaments including one glass pickle. On Christmas morning, the first child to find the pickle on the tree would get a special gift and would supposedly have a year of good fortune.

This tradition is said to come from Germany, but this is probably apocryphal. In fact, the tradition is widely unknown in Germany.

Our family is staying a POP for 1 night during spring break 2007 before moving to OKW the next day. We will be checking in after a 24 hr drive. We will want a very quiet out of the way location to just rest up for a day in the parks the following day. Any location advice??? Thanks! :faint:

Chris - Me blush? Nahhh. :rotfl: I will give you one word AWESOME! Uh-huh, I was living on cloud 9 for a few days. Wooo Hooo! Made the lack of sleep and craziness not matter so much. Can't wait for X-Mas!!! :rotfl2:

Timmy - You mean they may have missed it LAST November? Sounds like what my Mom is going through. She has a tumor the size of a grapefruit and they just now caught it. It can be so frustrating sometimes.

I can't remember who else said what. My brain is NOT 100% this morning.

I have my first Private Quarters party this Friday. Wish me luck! :wizard:

Terry will be back on the 17th for 2 weeks! YAY! Then on the 2nd of Jan he is buh-bye. My in-laws are thinking about coming out like the 18th - the 24th. My brother gets here the 24th and my Grandma will be here around that time too possibly. So much for a quiet few weeks at home. I was hoping for some alone time as a fmaily, but it looks as though those plans have changed! Oh well. I will just have to make the best of the situation.

My Mom goes in for her 1st treatment tomorrow. Keep her in your thoughts for me please! :grouphug:

DISASTER-MASTER MEDICS SET FOR ACTIONBy ERIKA MARTINEZ
TIGHT SPOT: Silvana Uzcategui, one of 11 women on the FDNY's 52-member rescue-medic team, trains on a "trapped" dummy during an exercise on Randalls Island. November 27, 2006 -- The city has created an elite squad of "combat" paramedics trained to reach and navigate the crevices of collapsed buildings, bridges, tunnels and roads to aid injured and trapped survivors, The Post has learned.

Fifty-two FDNY rescue medics will be ready to work alongside cops and firefighters deep in the rubble of any Big Apple disaster caused by a terrorist attack or natural catastrophe. They will administer medicine and fluids to victims who previously had to wait hours, or sometimes days, for treatment.

"Our FDNY Emergency Services can now provide the most advanced prehospital care to patients fighting for their lives in the most perilous situations," Chief of FDNY EMS John Peruggia said.

"With this new training, our paramedics can administer treatment faster than ever before, which could ultimately mean the difference between life and death."

More like combat medics geared up to tackle conditions on an urban battlefield, these proactive medical professionals will no longer have to wait on the sidelines while other first responders bring patients to them.

The trailblazing medics went through nearly three weeks of rigorous instruction alongside firefighters at the department's "rescue school" on Randalls Island and will be hitting the street on Dec. 3, with one ambulance in every borough.

Each paramedic selected for the unit has experience working in haz-mat situations.

With that knowledge as a base, they spent 80 hours in harnesses and protective masks while learning how to maneuver through small, cluttered spaces, shimmy through narrow tunnels, and rappel down ropes to get to their patients.

Some have credited the combination of those tactics and a complex understanding of emergency medicine with saving Port Authority Sgt. John McLoughlin, who was given fluids and medicine while he spent nearly 22 hours trapped under the smoldering ruins of the Twin Towers. He was played by Nicolas Cage in the movie "World Trade Center."

A trapped victim "must be treated before they are completely extricated" to increase survivability, explained Lt. Rafael Goyenechea, 44, a 19-year EMS veteran and Rescue Medic supervisor.

The groundbreaking program was paid for with a $2.2 million federal grant from the United States Fire Administration, FDNY officials said.

Paramedics handpicked for the squad realize they are pioneers in the field of emergency medical service.

"Years ago, you wouldn't have thought we'd be working side by side with firefighters in a collapse or a trench. It was unheard of," said Brooklyn paramedic Joel Pierce, an 11-year veteran.

Paramedic Silvana Uzcategui, one of 11 women in the unit, said, "Living in this city, you have to be ready for anything. We are a primary [terrorist] target, and we are getting prepared."

I used to have a group of girls I'd meet from an AOL Disney board - years and years ago. I wonder what happened to them....

I'm up for a meet - maybe after the holidays would be better though. I wouldnt mind going out to Woodfield, after X-Mas.... Cheesecake Factory, perhaps??? Mmmmm!!!

And I wanna go to a few stores out there.....

I NEED HELP!!!!

I need to be told Im not a total butt-hole, cuz I feel awful. :guilty:

My 15 y/o had been a serious JERK lately. Really, really bad. No drugs, no drinking, no blowing off school - but just a horrible attitude with me.

So he comes home last night, and says 'Youre not gonna beleive this, Matt's Dad has Bears season tickets and he invited me on Sunday, can I go?"

Joey's a huge Bears fan.

So I go - I wanna talk to you first about the way youve been treating me. So, he cops the attitude again, mid-way through the conversation he leaves my room, I called to him - get back in here, he says no, I say - fine then youre NOT going to the Bears game. Although - I did NOT mean this... Bad move on my part, I know, I know, I know.

I went after him, and said - I wasnt done talking to you, get your *bleep* back in here. No, he says. I tell him again - No. I even said "I highly advise you dont make ANY phone calls or do ANYthing until I finish talking to you" No.

Well, Joey goes back in his room. Calls Matt and tells him he cant go - like immediately, which slays me cuz he KNOWS (and this is terrible to admit) if you bother me enough, I give in. Remember what Bill Cosby said - Parents dont care about whats fair, whats right or wrong - they care about QUIET! Peace and quiet. He's right. :teeth:

So, Matt - he called another friend, other friend said yes.

So, Joey is crushed. And I feel terrible. Jim says it's not my fault, even my younger son said 'not your fault - he should have never walked away in the first place' - never the less, I cried myself to sleep last night, I feel TERRIBLE. I can never afford to take him to a game, and he wants to go, and has wanted to go SO bad, for YEARS. :guilty:

He wouldnt say one word to me this morning. And I even went into his room last night, after everything was done - and said, Im sorry this happened, but I needed you to finish talking with me, and YOU chose to walk away from me.

I just feel like poop, now.
