heads up to you too Jmom! i came across something and it's in the mail today! just went out though so you probably won't get it until Wed.!

Are any of these good:

The Debutante Divorcee by PLum Sykes
Swapping Lives by Jane green
Baby Proof by Emily Griffin
Cocktails for three by Stephanie Wilder-Taylor

I went to the library in the next town. They don't have squat but I managed to get:

Goodnight Nobody and In her shoes. I started In Her Shoes.

ooo IN HER SHOES is my FAVE!!! but please please please...read it first and THEN see the movie if you must! haha! i don't think the movie did the book justice at all!

alright i wrote a friend of mine here a PM and asked her advice! She's a librarian at the Chicago Library! so she can help us out a lot!! she's:

jedi_librarian here :) and she's FAB!

Re: NEED YOUR HELP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh, goodie!! This is actually what my job is

Ok, I don't know if you've tried Sophie Kinsella's other books besides the Shopoholics - She's written Can you keep a secret? and The Undomestic Goddess - both GREAT books! BTW, Shopoholic and Baby is coming out this Spring!!!

Another Chick-lit author I really like is Irish author Marian Keyes. She has written several books. They're Chic-lit, have the humor factor, but deal with real issues. The first one I read by her was Watermelon about a gal who's husband leaves her the day their baby is born! But it's wonderfully written and is about one of 5 of the Walsh sisters. Other books by her are written about the same sisters. It's great!! Anybody Out There and Angels were great, too. About the same family. (Each is about a different sister). They will make you laugh your *** off, but also cry once or so. In a good way!!

Ok, another British Chick-lit author is Jane Green. I haven't read her, but she's written many books, and I've heard she's good!

Another author, not as well known is Wendy Markham. She hasn't written much, but there's a series of about 3 books I particularly liked, about a character named Tracy Spadolini. The books are Slightly Single, Slightly Settled and Slightly Engaged. Of course it deals with her living in New York, and her relationship with her friends and almost boyfriend. I really enjoyed these. Some are classified as Romance novels, but don't let that throw you off. Many Chick-lit books are.

If you like Chick-lit, a good publisher to look at is Red Dress Ink. Press. They seem to publish a majority of all Chick-Lit

Ok, finally, I can recommend something new, which I've been enjoying, "Chicana-Lit" which is basically Chick-Lit with a Latina twist. My favorite is Alisa Valdes Rodrigues. She's written Playing with Boys, The Dirty Girls Social Club and Make him Look Good. I liked the 3rd the least, but it was good. Lots more explicit sex than any Chick-Lit I've read. But it was still good, and I liked the correlations of the people in the novel to real life celebrities. You could totally see that. The first two are GREAT, though. I loved them both.

Another good Chicana-Lit author is Mary Castillo. There's more up and coming too.

I hope all this helps! I'm always here for a reading suggestions!

Okay all, question: What would you do (seriously) if you won the lottery.

Me: 1. Pay off house, etc.
2. Buy a really great vehicle.
I ahve to really think about after that.

Would you feel obligated to pay off family's bills or give them money?

Since my mom died - I dont have any family. So - I dont have to give any of them, squat! :thumbsup2 None of them like me....

Ummm - I'd get a killer house. I have to be honest, I'd go a little wacky in the house department. Im tried of being squished in my dwelling.

I'd get a GTI Volkswagon:

I'd probably get a Hummer too, for when Im feeling fesity. pirate:

Then, I'd put away money for my boys and shop, shop, shop, travel, shop, shop, travel.....

CAt, I make myself your honorary sister. :cutie:

DMM, tell Jedi thanks!!! I have seen In her shoes, but I can already tell the book is better. I told my sis the same thing about devil wears prada. I like the movie but I loved the book.

i'm chatiing online with my dad right now and he's hilarious cause he's getting all mad that we won't go on a cruise in February for his birthday on the DCL!! I told him i can't afford it and dinner would justhave to do!!!

I really hope he's surprised! cause right now he's just mad! :)

ughhh! not sure if i mentione this yesterday, but Sal and I saw the WORST MOVIE EVER MADE! We watched Material Girls with Hilary Duff?? blahhh!! and i really like her alot! she was just AWFUL in this movie and let's not even go there with her sis :faint:

OMG, my sister just told me a couple of hours ago how bad that movie is!!! That is so weird. Our latest movies have been: You Me and Dupree, The breakup, Devil wears prada, friends with money, pirates. We just do pay per view. We hardly ever rent.
