Hi gang,

I usually don't ask but if you have a second today i could use some prayers and pixie dust. My new niece was rushed to the emergency room this am. As of right now she is admittied to Nicu(neo-natal intensive care unit) It seems she was'nt moving at all this am and turned jaundice. Her white blood count is very high and her liver shut down. she has a very high fever. She is only 5 days old.

My wife went to see her and i was gonna go later, but my wife said not to. She is hooked up to a million machines and i don't want to see her like that. She is too little for this too young.

PJ - I'm sorry, prayers being said by many for her....

please keep us updated.

& don't ever think twice about asking

Hi gang,

I'm finally home. Thank you all it worked, she is still in Nicu but is doing better. The jaundice is almost completly gone and her temp is normal. She has to stay to at least sunday if not later, but is doing so mucgh better. Plus she is really moving and wiggling around and crying alot, something she was not doing, as my brother said. She was laying lifeless as he said.

So guess where i was today??? Anyone see the news for nyc?? What a freaking mircale, i swear. I was sitting on the couch at work when i hear a tone and the dispatcher announce a 10-60, that codes mean major emergency. It preaty much means send everyone. I jump off the couch to go see what was going on and the chief comes running down the hall, full sprint and is trying to pull his turnout/bunker pants up at the same time. I know this man a long time and well, i never seen him run before.

What is it i asked??? I explain on the way, your driving me there he says. We jump into the FDNY suburban and he tells me everything. A large commerical jetliner has just crashed in the manhattan river. I was thinking here we go again. I must have been going at least 85 mph, lights and sirens blazing and hes telling me faster, faster. we have to get there. It seems that pull to the right in nyc has been replaced with do everything you can to get in the way of the emergency vechile. :sad2: One driver was even nice enough to merge from the very far right lane to our lane far left lane, right in front of us and actually stop. Had i hit the brakes we would of rear ended him, instead i switched lanes really fast and just advoided him.

A 32 minute trip in nyc traffic at rush hour took us only 14 minutes flat. We ended up at one of the piers in manhattan and what i saw amazed me! I could swaer that every cop, firefighter and paramedic on duty in nyc was there. No one died or was seriously hurt, most were suffering from hypothemia. The cold was really taking its toll. Most were soaking wet, but all were walking. It was about 14 degrees here. We are taught that in temps under 25 people will drown in under 5 minutes if in the water at those temps.

For the next 4 hours i was with the chief, his right hand man as he told me. My whole fire house in brooklyn ended up there about 25 minutes after we arrived. With 10 years on the job, i still can't believe that everyone made it, there is no doubt that it was a mircale and i'm not what you call religous. It's not that i wish for something bad to happen, cause i never have. It's just that if it happens i want to be the one going or there, i knew long ago i was an Adrenalin Junkie. I live for chaos and the outcome was awesome.

PJ - I thought about you when I heard about the US AIRways plane yesterday afternoon. I still can't believe that the pilot made that landing, and that those ferrys were there so fast. It truly was a culmination of everything workign in their favor. Our paper said today that everyone was literally out of the water and resuced within minutes of the plane going down. That's simply amazing. I know we all hope for a good pilot when we get on a plane, but these folks really got lucky...

Glad your niece is doing better. Jaundice is very scary....

On the home front here...no school again today...it was -24 without the wind chill when I woke up today at 8am. The girls are playing Wii, & I'm dis'n

Hi PJ! First, read your post about your niece and am very happy to hear she is doing better! Just wanted to say I am also from Brooklyn and yes, yesterday with the airliner was unbelieveable! I work lower West side Manhatten and people were stunned that this happened and everyone survived (Thank God.) My son is a paramedic and was on his way to work. He went over to see if there was anything he could do but everything had already taken place and was over by then. He just could not get over seeing that plane in the water. I always say you guys (Firefighter's, Police, Paramedics) see it all, well this is one more! Again, thank God (and the flight crew) that all went well. Take care!

PJ, i'm glad she is doing so much better!

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great weekend! We had a fabbbuulous one! we left friday and spend an awesome weekend away and now we are home and we all just want to get to bed! haaha!

Husband and I saw Dirty Dancing on saturday evening at the theatre it was the last run of the show before it heads to Broadway and it was excellent! I fell in loooove! I was verrry disappointed in who they picked to play Johnny Castle, but about 15 mintues into the production, I was able to put that all behind and watch intently. Husband was in awe of the powerful voices displayed that night and I even bought the soundtrack and I think 2 of the voices we heard live that night were about 10xs better than the ones on the CD.

We had dinner at the Signature Room on the 95th of the Hancock Tower and while dinner and our waitstaff was an absolute dream and we even got an awesome window seat, I will never understand the need for someone to bring the whiny 3 year old to a 100.00 per person meal Arggg..I mean I left my whiny kids with their grandparents! ;) hahah!

Hope you all had a good one too!!
Oh and I finally upon miracle of miracles got a hair cut that I actually loved, I got it on saturday morning and I was soo nervous, but all worked out well!!

She came home from the hospital this afternoon.:cool1:

Suggestion, i go to a barber shop in brooklyn, they shave my head completely bald. You should try that, :rotfl2: It cuts shower time in half and its a hair cut that cannot be messed up.;)

How's everyone doing?? Some physco started his house on fire last night and them had a stand off with the nypd.:confused3 He was on his roof and refused to get down, we had to wait until he was contained to begin fire operations. The house was a total loss, he finally jumped off the roof and broke his 2 legs, but will live.

Final result, bad angel dust/ pcp.
